Chapter 9

On the following Sunday we were all home. I mean to say that is uncle had no tours. So everyone stayed back home to spend a quality time together. We all planned a sunday brunch cooked by me and aunty.

While we were cooking, Ridan and uncle took care of the sitting arrangements at the lawn. Well cooking meant, i was helping aunty cooking. And treating my nostrils. And for god sake she is a damn good cook. We took all our food to the table set at the lawn.

The lawn is actually is one of a kind. The kind which you find in a palace. The plants are caressed by the love of anty's hand. They are really beautiful. Its was small yet very organised. And the best part of the lawn is anty doesn't only grew flowers. She had planted few veggies too. I never actually noticed them earlier.

We were all settled. Me and aunty on one side Ridan and uncle on the other facing us. I could meet with Ridan eye. After the incident took place the other day. I was kind of feeling guilty Tina was supposed to sit on my right as her chair placed there, but she was missing. She came running from the back from the front door and placed something on the table in front of her. I looked up to check what it is. There was a photo frame with photo in it. I couldn't suppress the smile that erupt on my lips. I was the same photo that we took the other night when we all went out to ice cream.

Ohh wow! Now thats a piece of surprise. Aunty said. Her voice chirped. Thanks Tina.

Your welcome. But that was Ridan's idea. Tina revealed.

All gaze shifted to Ridan. His face turned red. A tinge of shyness could be clearly visible on his face. Just like a bride, newly married.

Oh my baby! Aunty awed.

Don't worry Ridan, we won't reveal this little secret to anyone. Tina in a mocking tone and a wink followed by that.

Except few of his friends. Uncle added with another wink.

And all our gaze shifted to uncle from Ridan.

Noticing the situation which is going to burst on him making him an object of joke. He cleared his throat pretending to be serious and signal Aunt to serve. Everyone stopped smiling. Actually suppressing our laugh. And suddenly Aunt burst out into laughter. Followed by all of us.

Brunch was delicious and all of us had a great time. Uncle and aunt left as we all requested them that we will do the dish and clean up. Tina helped me doing the dishes and she left while I planned to give aunt a surprise cake as a token of thanks.

So I stayed back in the kitchen. I didn't know where to start, since I hardly know where I could find all the ingredients. I tried to find through the cupboards. I was struggling with jars on the upper shelf when I heard a voice. Actually someone clearing his throat stating his presence.

Do you need assistance? He offered.

No. I said straight on his face. And then I realise he might feel bad nevertheless I was actually seeking help.

He was about to turn and go and then he stopped.

I was actually looking for all purpose flour. sugar. baking power. I said in a single breath. He keep silent for a moment and few seconds more.

Are you baking? He asked. shocked. as if I have asked for his kidneys instead of those ingredients.

Yes, you got any problem? I replied with a voice that has a pinch of irrigation. But soon I was enlighten with the fact that I was standing in his kitchen at his home! I hope he didn't mind.
