After that game, we all went back to our seats. We played I spy for a while, but Jonah ruined our childish fun, with repetitive dirty jokes, one of which being, 'I spy something big and round.' The answer was Kelly's chest.
By the time that game was finished, it was almost noon. We still had over four hours to go. Jonah broke out some more beer and offered the rest of us one. Kelley was the only one who took it. Then, he smoked a cigarette out of the window. They drank their beers, while Trey and Adley fell asleep.
The closer we got to our destination, it seemed to pour rain harder. By now, we could barely see anything outside, so the bus was pretty dark.
Shay covered her face in a sweatshirt and cuddled into the corner. I think she fell asleep too.
We turned a sharp corner, and Adley's head fell onto my shoulder. I looked at her. She looked so peaceful. I reached my hand up and gently moved a piece of hair away from her face.
"Don't be a creep and just watch her sleep. That's weird," Kelley said, giving me a glare and chugging her beer.
"I-I wasn't."
"Mhm, sure. Unless you want me to tell her that you stalk her in her sleep..."
"No don't! Her head just fell on me."
"Yep, and then you stroked her face."
"Oh, go to sleep, Kelley," I muttered. She laughed at my discomfort.
For some reason, even if Kelley did tell her, I wasn't sure if she would believe her. She seemed above gossip like that, though I didn't knew her very well.
I knew for a fact that sports ruled Adley's life. I had gone to seen one of her games before, and she was good. Vicious and aggressive, but planned out. She made everything she did look easy, the complex patterns looked simple coming from her. Any onlooker could tell that she spent a lot of time improving and practicing. She was easily the most dedicated player on the team. You know, the first one there, last to leave type, which was probably why she was team captain. I mean, I would vote for her.
By the time I had finished mentally analyzing the girl with her head on my shoulder, I was drifting off to sleep. I don't know how long I was out for, but eventually I was shaken awake.
"Tucker? Tucker! We're here," a voice said, shaking my arm. I cracked my eyes open to see Adley, her eyes locked outside, as she peered through the window. Confusion was laced into her face.
I followed her gaze, straining my eyes to peer through the intense rain storm. The hotel was nothing like I expected. It was big and dark, with black outside walls that provided a sufficiently creepy atmosphere. The outside walls were black, providing a sufficiently creepy atmosphere. Even the sky above it was black and stormy, as if the creator of the hotel's vision had rubbed off onto the weather.
There were no cars in the parking lot, in fact it didn't look like anybody else noticed the scary building, not that there was anything or anyone around it to notice it. Not a single soul or building was even on the street. We were truly in the middle of nowhere. Not even employee's cars were in the lot. I might of thought it was closed, had there not be a crickety sign in the front, describing it as open. 'The Honted Hotel' was scrawled onto the side, in big, chunky, black letters. Well, that's not conspicuous at all.
Adley and I exchanged glances. She gulped. "This doesn't look like the five star hotel that was described in the brochure," she said.
"You actually read the brochure?"
"I used it to help me fall asleep. It was actually quite effective." We both cracked up, gaining odd looks from the rest of the bus.
"Goody, we're here, but it doesn't look like the pictures. Oh, well, we shall make the best of it," Mrs. Rodman blabbered, everyone only half listening, their gazes still locked on the sight out the window.
Even Kelley stared at the mysterious building for a prolonged amount of time, and nothing ever held her attention for more than ten seconds. I'd never seen her like that, an almost curious look on her face, but that can't be, because she never cared enough to be curious about anything, not even cheerleading. The less brain power she had to use, the better. Curiosity just wasn't on that list of necessary emotions.
The bus pulled into the parking lot and parked in a space near the front. He pulled the lever to open the doors.
"Everyone out. This is the stop," was the only thing he grumbled to us.
As soon as everyone and their backpacks were off the bus, the bus was gone. I didn't even see it pull away, but it must have. Nothing can just vanish, right? If it could, this would be the place that power would be unlocked and enhanced.
Mrs. Rodman pasted another cheap smile on her face, then led us all inside, muttering things about how much fun we were going to have.
The picture above is of Tucker, played by Theo James. He is soooooo hot. Four from Divergent! Thanks for reading.
