TWDMAR Chapter Fourteen

I pryed open my eyes, slowly. They were heavy, and I felt like I had been drugged.

When I saw the black sheets and dark blue walls I became confused.

Not to discredit the boy, but Ryder didnt seem like the type to offer guest services and sanitary living sections.

I flexed my hands, curling them into fists and letting them go.

My ears picked up the sound of footsteps and I rolled, becoming tangled in the blankets. Who was coming?

My heart almost stopped when I saw Alec come in, shaking out his black hair.

A grin pulled up the corners of my mouth when he smirked at me.

"Finally awake sleeping beauty?" He purred.

His voice was light and joking but his eyes held true worry.

"I feel about as good as a hooker after a busy night." I yawned, stretching out my legs. The muscles shuddered and I winced.

Moving slowly I pulled myself off the bed, getting to my feet.

Alec moved slowly, as if not to scare me, then slid an arm around my waist. "What happened back there Blake?" He asked, voice lower.

I leaned into his chest, letting him support me.

"I don't quite know. I remember Hunter grabbing me. They blindfolded and gagged me and drove me somewhere. Took my cell. Bastards. Then Ryder took me into a room..." My voice became choked at the end and I fought back a sob.

"They're going to come back you know. For me." I gulped.

"No they won't. They never will." Alec's voice was stone cold. I twisted, my eyes meeting his glowing green ones. I wrapped my arms around his neck, not letting my eyes drift from his.

"You don't kno-" Alec cut me off with words that shocked me.

"They'll never breathe again. They're dead. And I know because I killed them." His voice was sharp, icy.

I dropped my arms, eyes wide. He had killed someone? Two people?

I fought away from his grasp, scrambling back onto the bed.

Alec stayed in the same spot, his careful green orbs tracking every one of my movements.

"Blake. I had to. Unless you wanted to become Ryder's little play doll." He spit out and I flinched.

"You didn't have to kill him!" My voice rose at least two octaves.

"Yes I did."

How was he so calm? He killed someone. Took their life. There was no going back.

"You are despicable! How could you kill him? He's your fucking best friend!" I screeched.

Alec lunged left, faked it then went right, snagging my wrist. I yanked back against him, but even if I was back to my normal strength I wouldn't have been able to break his hold.

"The second he decided to lay a hand on you was the second he stopped meaning anything to me, except for someone who needed to die." He snapped, furious.

I was speechless.

First of all, I couldn't believe I meant that much to Alec. And second of all, how could he kill Ryder?

Then alot thought rang in my mind.

"Alec, how did you find me?" I whispered, voice starting to get hoarse.
