Alice POV
We fell into a conformable pattern. And I didn’t mind it. I liked it. But then on Friday we got told some news that changed it.
This week was spring break and I had no homework. I was so happy. And James wasn’t going to do any of his homework. No matter how many times I have tried to have him do it, he won’t.
We were just walking in the door talking about how what’s the first thing you think of when you think of the word cheerleader. Well, more like arguing. James kept arguing that when you thought of cheerleaders, they would have blonde hair. And I keep auguring that’s not true and that I thought of a cheerleader with brown hair.
“Oh come on, you know I’m right.” He pointed at himself with a smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes.
“Prove it.” I crossed my arms. We were inside of my house taking off our shoes and hanging up our stuff. I didn’t know my mother was home until she stuck her head in from the laundry room. She had a smile on her face and looked like she has hiding something. She looked like a little kid trying to hide candy from her parents.
Sometimes I wondered if my mom is actually a mom or a child in a gigantic costume.
“What’s going on here?” James turned to her.
“When you think of cheerleaders what’s the first thing you see?”
She stepped out of the laundry room and leading against the frame. “Blonde, plastic, popular b!tch.”
James stuck a finger in my face. “Ha!” He also smirked and crossed his arms. I rolled my eyes.
I looked at my mother. “But mom is it possible for a brunette or red head to on the squad.”
She smiled. “Yes.” I pointed in his face mocking him. “Ha!” His smirked deepened.
“But if I remember correctly Apple Juice, the argument was what the first you think of is and I proved my point.” He turned and faced my mother. “And also I thank you for supporting me.” He bowed like they do on stage and she smiled and laughed. I just slowly shook my head walking towards the food pantry.
“Whatever you say, cheater” He laughed at me. Before he could say anything my mom cut in.
“If you two don’t stop talking I can’t tell you the big news.” We both looked at each other than her.
“Okay…..what is it?” I said while closing the pantry door.
She smiled. “We get to go to Six Flags for spring break!”
My eyes bungled and I smiled. James stared dancing all funny and fist pumping the air. I started laughing at him. He looked like he was stepping on hot rocks.
“Wait mom why are we going all of a sudden?” I said.
“James’ mom wants to see him and since Six Flags is right on her doorstep, I figured why not.” I ran up to her and hugged her.
“Thank you. Thank you.” James must have joined in on hugging my mother because I felt someone else’s arms touch me.
“Okay, okay. Go get packing. We will leave soon.”
“What time?” I asked.
“The driver will be here at 4:30. I know it’s not a lot of time but we should make it. Oh by the way our plane takes off at 6 pm so we need to leave at 4:30.” I glanced at the clock realizing it was almost 4.
