So they made it through kindergarten. The fights went from 3 times a week to 1. Big improvement for two kids growing up in a rough world . By second grade they had grown to become friends actually. Something no one expected but every excepted. After three months of perfect attendance, Sarah didn't show up to school one day.
"Ms.Crane, where's Sarah?"
"Sorry Jordan, I don't know. She seems to be absent today"
Jordan got a sick feeling in his stomach. Not like the feeling of eating a crayon, or falling off the swings. He had never been so nervous before. Thoughts poured into his head.
"What if she's hurt? Is she coming back? Did I do something wrong?"
Deciding she would come back at some point, he sat next to her desk refusing to move. Seconds, minutes, hours passed. He missed recess, lunch, and library.
