Chapter 10~Bad timing

     Several hours passed and it was getting dark.I looked over at Shadow who seemed to be lost in his thoughts. 

"Hey."

"Hmm?"I crawled over to where he was sitting.

"You should get some rest."

"I've been resting all day,Nyla."I shook my head and leaned back against the wall.He's so foolish sometimes.

"Don't be stupid.Your'e the one who got shot."He looked at me.

"I just can't.I'll have nightmares."

"What?"I giggled and playfully punched his shoulder.He smiled.

"But who'll keep watch?We both need sleep and we've here to long to risk another day."Now it was pitch black.I sighed and leaned my head up against the wall."And besides,we'll both be sleeping lightly."I nodded."So can we both sleep?"

"Okay.But if we get jumped I'm dragging you to hell with me."

"Oh,Nyla,I won't need to be dragged.I've done some shit I wish I hadn't."

"Like what?"He took a shaky breath.

"I've killed,raped,left people for dead and betrayed my own.That's why don't have a home"I looked at him and grabbed his hand.His grip tightened around mine."And yet,you hold my hand.Why?"

"You haven't done any of that shit to me."He chuckled and looked at me  intently.He kissed me.It was soft like a feather.I was shocked,to be honest.I didn't know what to do.He  barely pulled back and smiled at me.

"Just one more..."He murmured against my lips.Instinct took over as he kissed me again.This time it rougher,more compassionate.I allowed his tongue to slip into my mouth.I haven't kissed anyone before this.What do I do?Shadow pulled me closer and laid me down as his tongue swirled around mine.I couldn't help but gasp when he gently bit my lip.He moved down to my jaw and then to my neck,kissing me all the way down."Let me go further."His hand moved under my shirt and I shivered under his touch.He paused for a moment and removed it returning his attention to my lips."I probably shouldn't."He kissed me softly again and laid down beside of me.We stayed so silent for a moment."I-I'm sorry."

"It's alright."

"I don't know what got into me."He turned towards me."I don't think we'll get jumped tonight,Nyla."I smiled.

"I haven't been kissed before."He chuckled.

"I'm glad I was the one to steal your first kiss."

"Why'd you kiss me ?"

"'cause I've wanted to for a long time."I nodded.

"That worries me."I teased.He chuckled.

"Now you have to give me a 'good morning' kiss and a 'goodnight' kiss."He kissed me again."Goodnight,Nyla."

"Night."I turned onto my side and could feel his eyes burning into my back.I scooted closer to him.He put one of his arms around my waist and pulled me close.We didn't need blankets.

Fuck you,Instinct.

   I woke up to voices outside of the house.I got out of Shadow's grip and peeked outside.Two men in white coats were outside on the street.

"Shadow!"I hissed.He woke up and quickly joined me at the window.He frowned and took out his gun.I poked his shoulder and handed him one of my katanas. He got the gist.I unsheathed my other  one.The men had began to head in our direction. Damn it. We rushed to the door and waited patiently.They opened the door and Shadow and I were ready.Shadow had his gun aimed and I had my katana waiting.One of them yelped and the other jerked back in surprise.

"What do you want?"Shadow sounded unbelievably threatening,unlike when he was kissing me,soft and emotional. 

"T-This is our home!"One said.
