The City

1880: A year of change,
a year of transition,
a time that,
brought into existence, Greenwich Mean Time.

Among other things,
the year was great for sport,
for St. Mark's Church,
founded the St. Mark's of West Gorton.

Our long history then started,
and in 1894,
the city was painted blue,
with the advent of the Sky Blues.

And yet, the warriors have fought since before,
West Gorton and Newton Heath then,
battling in 1831,
battling now, as City and United.

Half the city united against us,
two halves thus divided,
still, the city remains united,
for there's none without the other.

I do not disrespect half the city,
I give it this respect,
and state: United are gold,
while we are platinum.

They may have Van Gaal at the helm,
and De Gea in goal,
but the heroes at heart of Manchester,
are Pellegrini and Joe Hart of Manchester.

They may be first now,
and we second,
yet their lead,
shall last only a second.

Losing pole post now,
doesn't really matter,
for when the Blues go marching in,
victory shall be ours.

I thus conclude my tribute as a Cityzen,
displaying his love for the City,
with Pride in Battle,
like "Superbia in Proelia."
