After taking Bradly's vitals once again, Camila returned to the break room to find Lauren in the same spot but this time with a book in hand. The book had been an old copy of Charles Dicken's Great Expectations, which happened to be one of the nursing students favourites. She entered the room and watched as the emerald eyes scanned the writing attentively. Smiling to herself she took the seat next to the lieutenant and was surprised when her eyes didn't turn to meet her gaze. No question, she knew of the brown-eyed girl's presence, she was trained for that. But the fact that her eyes hadn't left the page, indicated she was interested in the novel.

"Hey there pretty girl." Lauren said as she smiled to herself and closed the book finally meeting the brunette's gaze. "Everything good?"

"Yeah he's gone back to sleep now. Should be out for the night." Camila sighed, "Dickens is one of my favourites, I read that in high school in twelfth grade English Literature." The nursing student remembered the time she had sat behind Lauren in that class, she had been so close but yet so far all at the same time. Blushing at the memory, she returned her attention to the older version of the green-eyed girl in front of her.

"You are in every line I have ever read." Lauren quoted the novel easily. She made a move to stand, but  decided against it when she saw the look on the younger ones face. "I read it in high school as well, it was also my favourite."

Smirking, she took the smaller women by the hand, brought it to her lips, and placed a gentle kiss upon it. Before Camila had padded in, the lieutenant decided on her game plan. Instead of just blatantly going in for the kiss she'd work her way up the brunettes veins. Kissing the top of her hand first, then on her wrist where her pulse point was, forearm, then the shoulder, continue to her neck, behind the ear, the jawline, and then finally her lips.  It was Lauren's own personal game and of course it'd keep Camila guessing. In the marine's mind, every part of the woman in front of her was worth paying attention to. This way she'd just be able to prove it, in time.

"Well look who's being old fashioned. Smooth lieutenant, smooth." The shorter of the two giggled, then wrapped her arms around the lieutenant for a quick embrace. "I'm a free woman, so lead the way 'ma capitainne'."

"You're such a dork." Lauren laughed, then led the nursing student out of the break room after she grabbed her jacket, then to her truck all while their hands were clasped together tightly as made their way through the hospital. The marine escorted the younger woman to the passenger side and opened the door for her and offered her shoulder to hold onto as the student stepped up. After, she made herself comfortable in the driver's seat, buckled her seatbelt, and smiled at the brunette riding shotgun.

Camila smiled back as she buckled up. The tension was obvious, neither of them knowing what to do. But as Lauren roared the engine to life, the radio decided to make things easier on them both and play a tune they both knew pretty well. The song filled the Ford's speakers and the youngest began singing along immediately to Miguel's, 'Simple Things'. Then the lieutenant pulled out of her parking space and was on the road to her apartment,

"She said, I don't want a model

I don't want a movie star

You don't have to win the lotto

I want you to win my heart"

Lauren blushed as the lines spilled from Camila's lips effortlessly. The temptation to join the brown-eyed woman was there but being the serious person she was, she ignored it and smiled in appreciation instead. Grinning, Camila continued singing the lyrics and grabbed the marine's free hand to get her attention, as if she was singing to her.
