"Liam, I--"

"Hey, don't worry, it'll be fine," Liam said with a soothing tone as he smiled into the alluring grey eyes of his mate.

Rhiannon looked into his eyes and saw nothing but honesty there. "I know that. Its absurd really, I don't even know why I'm feeling this way," she muttered and looked away.

Liam gently turned her head to face him and couldn't help but marvel at her beauty. "Believe me, if I even thought for one second that they wouldn't respond well, I wouldn't let you go out there."

"I believe you," Rhiannon said, letting a soft smile slip through.

"Well, come on, then. Your pack is waiting for you," Liam smiled broadly, and Rhiannon felt a surge of confidence course through her.

She was to be introduced, formally, as the Midnight Pack's new Luna. Of course, there had been multiple rumors floating around the rumor mill about the Alpha having found his mate, but nothing had ever been confirmed, and given the time period, such rumors did have the tendency to spiral out of control.

The notion of being Luna, of a werewolf pack nonetheless, was terrifying to Rhiannon. This came from the fact that she knew very little about their kind, and would suddenly be expected to lead them. The idea that they would even accept her as a worthy leader was inconceivable to her. Her mate, however, seemed sure of his assertions, and she was inclined to believe him.

The pack consisted of over two hundred wolves, and they sounded like it too. Liam had arranged for them to gather at an open practice field, as it was the only place that could accommodate the huge number. Rhiannon had a good view of the crowd from a small hill a short distance away, and it only made her bubble with nerves. The last she had seen them was on the broken battlefield, and most of them probably wouldn't remember her amidst the wounded that needed attention.

Even from this distance, Rhiannon could clearly pick up on the conversation happening in the crowd. The pack knew the reason behind the day's gathering, and from the sound of it, each had their own expectation of what the new Luna would be like. It was overwhelming Rhiannon, and she tried as best as she could to block the comments out of her head.

"You ready?" Liam asked as he held out his hand.

"Yeah," she took his hand and they started down the grassy hill together.

One by one, the members of the pack turned to look at them as they traversed to the front of the large gathering. The wolves of the Midnight pack were 392 in number, almost double the amount in Rhiannon's flight. They stared at her with curiosity, only knowing her as one of the leions that had helped in the battle.

"Who is she?" A small voice sounded from within the crowd, and Rhiannon turned to see that the speaker was a young boy in his father's arms. She smiled at him and he tentatively smiled back.

"Wolves of the Midnight Pack, I know this is an unusual meeting, one that wholly involves all the members of the pack. There is a time in every man's life where he finds love. For us wolves, its the finding of our mates, the other half of us. Many of you have found that love, and I know many have been expecting me to find mine ever since I came of age. However, as an Alpha, whoever becomes my mate, will also become your Luna," Liam spoke eloquently to the crowd and they hung on to his every word.

Rhiannon heard a few sighs at his last sentence, and it irrationally brought out some aggression in her. Seeing Liam speak to his pack was akin to watching a lion interacting with his pride. The respect they held for his was clear, and Rhiannon could also see a similar respect Liam held for his people. He cared about them like they were his own family, and she guessed they were his family, just like her flight was hers.
