Liam fidgeted and shifted his position from one feet to the other, but Rhiannon knew he would agree with her. He was after all her mate, and what she was asking was no selfish matter. It would not only make her happy but a certain dying leion as well.

"Okay. Only because you asked. I don't know this guy, but if he plays one false move towards you, I'm bringing him down," he said adding a growl to the end.

Rhiannon nodded with a hint of a smile on her lips. Rhiannon had told Liam about Vyncent, the Irra that was dying and had looked to her for help. When she retold the part where Vyncent wanted her to be his mate, Liam growled possessively, and it took her some time to convince him that Vyncent's actions were more based on survival than anything else. She then explained how she wanted to help Vyncent find a mate, someone who was willing, before her and Liam settled their issues. Liam was reluctant at first, but the prospect of losing his mate made him agree, albeit not too happily.

"He won't. I don't know Vyncent for very long, but he seems like an honest guy," the response Rhiannon got was a roll of the eyes and a snort.

"Baby, you don't know guys very well then," this made Rhiannon narrow her eyes at him.

"I seem to understand what you want at least," Rhiannon said with a raised brow referring to the mating process.

"Come on, Rhi. You feel the pull as much as I do, I'm sure of it," Liam said teasingly, making Rhiannon blush.

Rhiannon felt warmth bloom inside her at his spontaneous nickname. She was a little uncomfortable with where the direction of the conversation was heading, but she was grateful for the light atmosphere it created. It actually amazed her how carefree she felt. Maybe this was how a mate was meant to make you feel.

"Don't you have duties to attend to?" She said jokingly and walked to his table, which was fully covered by pieces of papers scattered here and there.

"Nope. I'm off for the day," Liam said playfully as Rhiannon lifted a yellowed sheet of paper that looked to be the pack's finance calculations, and put it back down.

"Your desk is awfully messy. I mean, how do you work like this?" she said using both hands as a gesture towards the table.

He groaned and walked nearer to where Rhiannon was, standing in front of her.

"Please don't tell me you're a clean freak," he said with an adorable face that made her laugh.

"No, I'm not. I just like to know where things are. That, and the color of my table," she crossed her arms.

"It might look unorganized, but I guarantee you I know where everything is. And, my table is a reddish brown, if you wanted to know," his face now only a mere few centimeters from her own, and his eyes looked even more mesmerizing up close, if that was even possible.

Her heart hammered in her chest, and her breath caught in her throat, aware of the close proximity of her and her mate now. Her lips parted unconsciously, and she could see that Liam was staring at them and slowly inclining his head. Questions reeled in her mind, causing both panic and confusion. Did she really want this? She knew that once they kissed, the mating was bound to happen. Had she made up her mind?

Her questions were cut off by the softness of Liam's lips pressed up against her own. Without thinking, they moved in sync and Rhiannon felt a spark that was surreal. She breathed him in and felt lighter. He was her own personal heroine, not that she did drugs, but she imagined this was what it felt like. The kiss was slow and sensual, and somewhere in the middle, her arms had encircled his neck, and was now pulling on his extremely soft black hair. He wasn't pushy at all, and did not try to go further. As soon as the kiss started, it ended, with both of their foreheads against the other. Rhiannon smiled at Liam and he returned a charming grin.
