Entry #23:

Its been 2 weeks since we discussed the plan to get to the tower. Not much has happened since the day we got here. Food has been limited, and we have gathered gear day by day when possible. The recent inclement weather had flagged us incapable of getting out and pursuing the equipment. Storms, hard rain, and fog has made transportation difficult for all of us recently, so not much work has been done. Although, we have managed to get some stuff like more weapons and even homemade bombs to use in battle if needed. The heating system failed a few days ago, and the power will go out anytime soon now. With the dates getting closer to winter, colder temperatures are starting to come in quicker than normal. If we can't get to a better environment soon we might freeze! But never the less, we have managed to grab 6 generators (which are on full charge right now) just in case we are stuck here for awhile longer than expected.

Now that we have gathered a decent amount of gear, it's almost time to head out and get the tower back to life. It will be challenging definitely, but we can manage it. For now, we are stuck in a home, heated only by a wooden fire in the living room. The used to be new glass windows are now boarded up, and the once new wood fencing is now stakes and pieces of wood stuck in the ground. It has been an easy road so far, but soon we will face challenges that will truly show who is fit for survival.

Entry Close.

Still writing in your journal I see Dakota." Robert walked up behind me and patted my back.

"Yeah." I responded calmly. "It's a routine I was used to doing every morning and night, and since the infection, I haven't been able to write in it on a daily basis."

"Your decision to go out in this situation is incredible. You asked me to keep everyone here safe. You confuse me, Dakota, but, I understand. Dakota, get some rest tonight. You'll need it. We are going to head out soon to the communications tower. Its been two weeks, and we need to get going early in the morning in order to avoid any possible signs of Reaper or the undead."

As Robert left the room, I turned and looked at Tori. I smiled, knowing that even though things have been tough recently, I still have her by my side. I slowly drifted off to sleep as I cuddled up next to her.

I woke up earlier than expected, hoped out of bed and headed downstairs. As I entered the kitchen, there was Hayley, setting down at the table and drawing in a color book.

"Good morning Hayley!" I said in a loud whisper.

"Morning!" She responded cheerfully. It was inhumane to me that she could be so happy during the situation at hand. I walked over and drew me a cup of coffee, then proceeded to the living room and started up the fire. I laid down and pulled out my notebook. Flipping the pages, I ran across so many things that I had put down before the infection. Clean dishes, finish up story for college writing, get charger stand from Chris, buy Tori new phone case for her SX-5. Now they were just memories of what I would call a past life. A time before everything took a fatal turn. It was depressing to be honest, but it was reality now, and I had to accept the facts.

Before I knew it I was woken up with a loud bang from the kitchen. Startled, I got up quickly and grabbed a crowbar off the coffee table and proceeded to the kitchen, aware as possible.

"Dammit! The heat made me lose my grip! Maybe it's time to get new oven gloves" Tori's voice rang through the room and the entrance as I turned the corner to see her picking up pieces of bacon off the floor, with Aiden coming over to help and Jeff and Robert putting on their gear.
