They sat there together, hand-in-hand, gazing at the sun. The waves crashed against the shore and the cruel wind sent sand flying. She laid her head on his shoulder and gave him a reassuring squeeze to their interlaced hands. He smiled and kissed her lightly on her temple. They said nothing as the sun began to set over the horizon and the weather grew colder. Nothing but a comfortable silence washed over the couple, they were contempt in just being together. He glanced over at her and she returned the gaze. Her eyes twinkled as he brushed a strand of hair out of her face. He cradled her face into the palms of his hand and leaned closer.

“I love you Catalina!” Tyler whispered.

Catalina opened her eyes and stared out at that same ocean as the rain poured down her back. She shook the memory out of her head and hugged herself subconsciously. Her tears mixed in with the rain, so she cried harder. The more I cry, the easier it would be to get over Tyler, she thought.

Rain…Rain…In the Rain’

She combed her fingers through her hair and let out a desperate sob. The guy she had known since she was in the seventh grade, her friend who could always make her laugh, the first guy she had ever truly fell in love with, was gone.

This for the ones that had it hard

The ones like me, the underdogs

Her phone vibrated in her purse, but she ignored it. Her mascara was running and she didn’t care. She wanted to forgive and forget, but that’s never easy. Her emotions were through the roof and she couldn’t find a way to contain them.

This for the ones that waited for the clouds

To fall Please God’

She wanted Tyler to hurt, to hurt just as much as she was. She wanted to see him on the ground begging for her back, but she knew that wasn’t going to happen. Guys had too much pride for that, and that’s what makes them idiotically blind.

Let it Rain

You can’t see my tears In the Rain

Rain…You can’t see my tears…in the Rain’

She looked up to the sky as the rain fell harder. Her body temperature rose as she grew cold, her insides were hot and boiling with anger. Her phone vibrated again and she took it out of her purse to answer it.

“WHAT!” She yelled as she shivered from the cold rain.
