Everyone turned to look at me. I shrank in my seat and raised my hand. "I will." The guard nodded at me. I slowly sat up straight and took a deep breath. "Well, I was in the dressing room and the zipper of the dress got caught. I was going to ask my mom for help but instead I saw Sergio. I asked for his help but when I heard my mom coming I panicked. Sergio tugged too hard and the dress ripped and then I tripped and Sergio fell with me. That's when the saleslady opened the door. We weren't doing anything, honest!"

Sofia nodded. "Better take her word for it; she's the only virgin in this room."

I blushed while the guard looked at our group, flustered. He then sighed and took out a pen and paper. "Names please," he said.

"Alphonso Venturi," Alphonso supplied, giving the guard a menacing look. The guard stiffened.

"V-Venturi?" he stuttered nervously.

Alphonso nodded.

The guard cleared his throat and pushed the paper aside. "You know, I think there is just a misunderstanding here."

"...huh?" my mother and I said at once.

"Why don't you and your group leave, Mr. Venturi?" the guard suggested. "I'm sure that you have nothing to do with this."

"What?" Natale demanded. "He punched Sergio!"

"Yes, well, I'm sure Sergio has learned his lesson through that punch and Mr. Venturi was just doing us all a favor."

"Oh you have got to be kidding," Sofia mumbled.

Alphonso and Sergio got up and made their way to the door. Alphonso stopped and turned around. "Hey!" he called.

I turned around to look at him. He gestured with his head toward the door and I immediately got the message. I grabbed my mom's arm and pulled her with me out the door. Natale and Sofia are going to kill me for this but, come on, who wants to go to mall jail? Not me. I'm sure my mom wasn't too fond of the idea either.

When we were out the door and out of everyone's view my mother started laughing. We stopped to stare at her.

"This has got to be the most eventful mall trip I'd ever had." She stopped laughing and gave me a wide grin. "It brings back so many memories. I feel ten years younger."

I blinked and gave her a small, confused smile. "Um...sure..."

My mother started laughing once again, only to stop when Sergio's fist suddenly slammed into Alphonso's face. I gasped as Alphonso rubbed his aching jaw while staring at Sergio in shock.

"Now we're even," Sergio said calmly, holding his hand out for Alphonso to shake.

Alphonso grinned and they shook hands. Why was it so easy for boys to forgive each other? I swear if they were girls they would have been acting bitchy to each other for another three days.
