Chapter 1://: Normal
D's POV
"Five more minutes," I grumbled to my alarm clock, reaching over to hit the snooze button. When I didn't find it, I reluctantly opened my eyes to see the time; 7:20 a.m.
"Shiz," I yelped, leaping out of bed so fast, I'm surprised I didn't die of heart attack. "Shiz, shiz, shiz."
School starts at 8:25. That's not enough time!
I skidded into the closet and quickly grabbed a bright blue shirt then started looking for my favorite jeans. Where are my favorite jeans?!
"Mom!" I yelled, peeking out into the hallway. "Yes?" She called back. "Where are my favorite jeans?"
"Your favorite jeans?"
"Yeah! The ones with the dark blue and the small rips!"
"But you have more than one like that!"
"Mom," I groaned. "I only have one favorite pair!" She was silent before calling back,"Check your dresser!"
I rushed over to it, opening the drawers and sighing as I saw them. "There you are." After my clothes, I brushed my teeth and quickly ran my brush through my hair, running down the stairs and making sure to grab a slice of toast on my way out the door.
"Oh, wait!" I ran back inside, grabbing my favorite beanie and sighing as I came face to face with my dad.
"Bye, Dad," I smiled, attempting to leave. "A hug first before you leave." I sighed again and did as I was told. "Love you, Dad," I shouted over my shoulder. "Love you, too!"

I looked around for my friends as I walked inside the high school, also known as hell to my friends. It's a blessing for me, really.
"D!" My friend Melanie called, a bright smile on her face. I came and wrapped her in a hug then hugged my friend Kyle on her other side.
"You look pretty," I complimented her. "What? No compliment for me?" Kyle pouted with a sad frown. "Nope," I giggled.
"Miss Rogers," I snapped my attention to the principal as he called to me. "No hats in the building." I frowned as he plucked my beanie off my head and handed it back to me.
"Yes, Mr. Carter," I sighed, stuffing it into my bag. "Man," Melanie crossed her arms. "He's such a stickler for rules. I really liked that hat on you, D."
"Maybe he's not a stickler," Kyle chuckled. "I think it was just Karma." I rolled my eyes as he grinned at me while he walked backwards.
"Mr. Samson, please walk the right way." Kyle scowled as Mr. Carter walked by again and turned him around. "Wouldn't want you falling on your face, now would we?"
"Maybe," I laughed to Melanie under my breath, grinning at my growling friend.

"Ugh," I jostled by backpack around on my shoulders. "This much homework should be illegal."
"I know, right?" Melanie nodded. "I swear my backpack weighs at least a hundred pounds every time we come home from school."
"Hyperbole: An exaggeration."
"D," Kyle groaned. "I know you want to be a writer and all, but seriously, quit it with the figurative language references."
"Sorry," I apologized. "Can't help it. It's in my blood."
"And apparently it's also in the air you breathe. Plus your food and water," Kyle rolled his eyes with a laugh. "You seriously scare me sometimes."
"Alliteration."
"D!"

I sighed as I laid in my bed, staring up at the ceiling. It was the best spot to gather my thoughts before I went to bed, when no one was there to disturb me.
I couldn't help but find myself frowning at the white paint as I thought of something that had been going through my mind for a while—My being single.
I hadn't had a boyfriend since seventh grade and as a Freshman, I definitely had something to worry about.
No one had displayed any interest in me, and if they had, they certainly didn't show it. All of the girls in my grade had dated at least ten guys while in my whole life, I'd only dated two. Just two.
Forever alone was something that scared me. It scared me so much, I felt stinging tears forming in my eyes.
It was a lot for me to understand since I wasn't usually so emotional, but sometimes I guess you just let your feelings out when no one is around to see you.
I wiped away the hot water droplets and took a deep breath, closing my eyes. I'm scared. If you could just... send me a sign?
