You had been dating your boyfriend Luke for 2 months now and since your parents had met him countless times,he decided it was time his parents met you,something he had been putting off for a very long time.
Since they didn't want you and Luke to come to their house because it was the first time,something about Luke "bringing strangers home",you had decided to meet up at some fancy restaurant (their choice of course since they didn't agree with any place you and Luke offered.)
The dinner had been arranged for over three weeks now but due to his parents cancelling every time,it was finally happening today.
"Luke does this dress make me look fat?"you pouted,attempting to suck your stomach in,which just made you look constipated."No you look beautiful"he shrugged,looking up from his phone to give you a quick smile.
"Stop lying,I look fat"you shrieked,quickly unzipping the dress and throwing it off.
"Do you think they would mind if I came naked?"you murmured,plopping down on the bed next to Luke in just your underwear causing his eyes to bulge."I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate that"he laughed gently,his eyes looking all over your body,everywhere but your face."Luke!stop it my face is up here"you scolded,tilting his chin up with your forefinger.
"Right,and I wouldn't appreciate you going naked either because you're mine and mine only"he whispered,pressing his lips against yours gently before pulling away.
"Just wear anything,you look beautiful no matter what you wear"he grinned."Now is not the time to be cheesy Luke" you whined even though you were blushing."You like it don't lie"he smirked.
"How about this one?"you murmured,pulling a black dress that was skin tight but fancy and appropriate over your head.
"You still look beautiful"Luke said,dropping his phone to pay attention to you."You always say that"you huffed,deciding that that dress was the one."Because it's always true.."he trailed off with a small smile.You rolled your eyes and proceeded to doing your hair and makeup since you were beginning to run late.
"Luke we should go now"you called when you were finally satisfied and ready to leave.You made your way to the car quickly,braving the cold.
The drive to the restaurant was quiet for the most part except for when you and Luke would make small talk."I really hope they like me,I'm so nervous"you breathed out,glancing over at Luke who was concentrating on the road."They can be a bit...picky....about everything"he grimaced."But don't worry,I like you and that's all that matters" he smiled,trying to lighten the mood.
When you arrived at the restaurant,Luke was out of the car and around to your side to open the door for you so fast that you didn't even have time to think about."Thanks"you smiled,gripping his hand tightly in yours.You were hoping that you would arrive before Luke's parents but that wasn't the case as you felt Luke tense up against you when his eyes landed on an older couple."Here we go"he muttered putting on an obviously fake smile and still never letting go of your hand.
You could feel your heart beginning to thump in your chest as his mother looked you over up and down,a disapproving look on her face.His father however,looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here.
"She's not as pretty as you've been describing her to me"his mom coughed,before turning to Luke,a small smile on her face and completely ignoring you.Luke began to introduce you but she didn't even acknowledge you which hurt more than you could describe.
Throughout the night,she would make small rude comments,asking you why you weren't ordering a salad since you could really do with some weight loss and wanting to know if you were only dating Luke because of his fame and money.
"So, Y/N what about your parents,they could only be as awful as you to raise such an awful child" she sneered. The subject of your parents was touchy for you,your dad died when you were just 9 and your mom had turned to alcohol as a way to numbing the pain after that.She was better now though but you had been through a rough time that you didn't feel comfortable talking about it.
"My mom,uh she's good,she's okay"you cleared your throat.She must've noticed you not mentioning your father because what she said next didn't surprise you."What about your dad ? Did he leave you? I couldn't blame him"she muttered.
"Not willingly,he didn't leave me willingly"you snapped.
"Oh I'm sure he didn't honey"she drawled.You stood abruptly and stepped back from the table."Luke are you hearing her ? You're not even gonna say anything or defend me? You haven't stood up once for me since your witch of a mother has been rude to me all night"you snapped,grabbing some people's attention who clearly didn't know how to mind their own business.
"Y/N,please sit down,you're making a scene"he whispered."No"you snapped,taking another step back,surprised at the words that fell from his mouth."Fuck you"you added.
"I can't believe you"you whispered before turning on your heel,prepared to leave."Wait Y/N"he called."Please just sit,she's my mom,my family I can't just...look okay please just have patience with her.I know she's not so nice but at she's still my family and my mom..."he trailed off.
"And I'm your girlfriend"you laughed bitterly,just reminding him in case he had forgotten.
"I know but my mom.."he started.
"Is more important than me,she's family after all and I'm not.I'm not your family.Just a damaged girl you found on the streets"you whispered,turning around and walking away.
