She was a nobody. She was a hollow statue, no, not even a statue. She was rubble, stepped on from those around her as they laughed and smirked. She was the dreaded fly which anyone would take a chance of hitting with a fly swatter. She was the small, broken stem on the flower. No longer needed, as the beauty of the flower was sufficient enough for the gardener. She was the dust behind the other dusts; she was lower than the dust. She was nothing.

So why? The little Tsukiko wondered. So why is this boy looking at me?

The said boy was hiding in one of the bushes outside her room, or as Tsukiko liked to think of, her prison. She would've never have noticed if the little boy's little black antennas were sticking out of the hedge.

Antennas, as Tsukiko recalled, could only be owned by the keepers of the guardians. Her little brother, Yoko, carried two on top of his head. However, his were not black as midnight. Instead, his were somewhat golden, like a sun in the mist. She tilted her head back against the wall as she tried to remember all the other guardians. She, herself was the firefly keeper. Although she hated remembering it, the thought of being one of the keeper clouded her mind until she breathed in deeply, then out, letting her thoughts out with each breath. Tsukiko then recalled the other two, beneath her level: the dragonfly, and the ladybug. All three of them did not own antennas. Nobody knows why, but it was probably something related to all three of them having the most power out of the guardian keepers. All three of them, you could say, had more power within themselves to look... human.

The last two was Yoko, the butterfly keeper, and the other one... The ant keeper. She perked up as she remembered the ant. She heard rumors about him from the whispers of the fireflies and some of the rumors were pretty harsh. But not as harsh as what you've endured... Her mind whispered.

She dusted the thought away with a mental dust-pan before looking out the window again. The two antennas were gone. Tsukiko sighed, not knowing why she was feeling so... What was she feeling? Why was she feeling? No. Don't feel. You're a nobody, nothing. Go to sleep... She criticized herself of her unwanted existence before falling fast asleep.

The next day, the ant was back. The antennas were sticking out from a closer bush then before and Tsukiko stared at it for a while. The antennas sticking out of the bush gave off an entirely awkward feeling and before she knew it, Tsukiko let out a small giggle. She tilted her head for a minute or two, wondering what the peculiar sound that just came out of her mouth was. She slowly touched her dry lips with her soft 5 year old hand as she tried to repeat the sound again.

'Heehee...' she spoke in a monotone voice. No, this isn't right. She furrowed her eyebrows. The sound was more high pitched like... 'Heehee'.

Tsukiko covered her mouth with both of her petite hands. This was it. She tried again and again until she couldn't stop giggling. Something was keeping her from stopping and she the sounds of her own amusement only died off once she couldn't bear her sore stomach anymore. Luckily, her family were at a conference and wouldn't have heard her "annoying voice", as they liked to describe it.

She took a deep breath before looking out of the window again. The antennas were still there and Tsukiko blushed as she realized that the ant heard her little giggles to nobody. She quickly ducked underneath the rim of the window and after a minute or two of silent breaths, she crouched on her knees and took a quick peek out the window. When she saw that the antennas were twitching slightly, she gasped with a smile and ducked beneath the rim again, trying to block her giggles with her hands. What was so funny? Not even she, the little girl knew, but she did know that the ant's antennas made her laugh and that was enough to perk her curiosity.
