Chapter 7: Rydel has a son?!

Ratliff's POV:
Did she just say son? Rydel has a son?! Who's the father? What if she's married? Please don't let her be, God. "Wait. Did she just say son?" Ryland and I look up to see the boys have the same shocked expression on their faces that I have "We have to follow her. I want to make sure she's okay." Riker says and we all nod. We head out to the van just as Rydel pulls out of the parking lot in a cream colored van "Hurry up guys! Let's go!" Rocky says as he jumps into the passenger seat and Riker gets in the driver's seat and starts the engine. The rest of us jump in and follow her down the road "So I'm pretty sure that we're uncles now." Ryland says and I chuckle "You guys are uncles not me." I say and Ryland elbows me in the side "You're the honorary uncle." He says and I smirk "Sure." I say. We follow Rydel to the school and she hurries inside the front doors of the elementary "So how old do you think her son is?" I ask and they all shrug "Maybe like six or seven." Ross says and we nod "Wait. What if she left because she was pregnant? But why would she leave? She had to have known we would have still loved her." Rocky says "Since when have you gotten so good at reading girls emotions?" Ross says teasingly and Rocky flicks the side of his head "Shut up doofus." He mutters and Ross sticks his tongue out "Guys I think we should go in." Riker says

Rydel's POV:
I walk down the kid's elementary school hallway towards the Principal's office when I hear Mason crying "I want mom!" He says and I run into the office to see him sitting in a chair holding an ice pack against his eye, a Band-Aid on his left knee and he has scraps on his elbows. He looks up and sees me "Mom!" He says as he runs up and hugs me throwing the ice pack on the floor and I hug him back tightly "Let's go home." I say and Maddie, Carly and Carter all stand up from the other three seats and walk with me down the hallway and towards the car when I hear male voices "Which way did she go?" I hear Ryland say. Oh my goodness. They are going to see the kids. What do I do? I look down the hallway to the right and hurry down it. I'll just go out the side door. I'm halfway to the door when I hear Riker say my name and the kids turn around and look at them "Oh my gosh! It's R5! What are they doing here?" Maddie asks "I'll explain later but for right now I need you three to call me Ms. Lynch. Okay?" I say to Maddie, Carly and Carter and they look at me confused then nod "Mason, you still call me mom." I say as the boys walk closer "Rydel, why'd you say you had a son? Wait. Who are these kids?" Riker says and I rest my hand on Mason's shoulder "This is my son, Mason." I say and they all look at him with undisguised curiosity and admiration. "Well I um better go." I say a couple seconds later and start to walk away but they stop me "Wait. You gotta come see mom and dad. They'll be ecstatic to see you. And Mason." Riker says and I quickly shake my head "I can't. I have to get Mason home." I say "Ms. Lynch! Carly forgot her backpack!" The office assistant says as she carries Carly's purple backpack in her hand "Go get it honey." I say and Carly walks over and takes it "Thank you." She says and the lady hugs her "You be good for your mom, okay?" She says and I freeze. She walks back into the office and I feel the boys staring at me "Rydel, who are the other children with you?" Rocky asks

Ratliff's POV:
Oh. My. Gosh. Rydel has quadruplets. She slowly looks up at me and I see the fear in her eyes but I also see vulnerability "Can I talk with you? Privately." I say and she slowly shakes her head "I-I have to head home." She says and I step closer but she ushers the kids out the school doors
