Chapter 10: Meeting Mom and Dad Again

Rydel's POV:
It's been a couple hours since the boys found out that Ell is the kids father and I've finally decided that I want to see mom and dad today "Are you sure? I mean I know they'll be happy to see you but I don't know how they'll react when they find out that Ellington is the father." Riker says and I smile "I know. I still want to see them. Even if they are a little surprised about Ellington being the father." I say and Ratliff wraps his arms around me from behind and kisses my cheek "So, do you think they should come over here?" Ross says and I nod "That way the kids can go play up in their rooms if mom and dad want to talk about certain stuff." I say. Riker gets his phone out of his pocket and dials mom's number "Hey mom, can you and dad meet us at," he covers the phone with his hand and looks at me "what's your address?" He whispers and I write it down on a piece of paper and he reiterates it to mom. He hangs up the phone a couple minutes later "They're on their way." He says and I take a deep breath. I have to tell the kids they are coming over, I call them downstairs and they run down the steps "What's wrong mom?" Carter asks and I smile "Nothing. I just wanted you to know that your grandparents are coming over in a few minutes. I'm going to talk to them for a little bit and then you guys can meet them." I say and they all grin "Really? They're coming right now?" Maddie asks and I pull her into a hug "Yes. They're coming over." I say and she wraps her little arms around my neck and buries her head in my neck "What if they don't like us?" She says and I pull back and look into her eyes "They'll love you. The boys already love you. Don't you, guys?"  I say and look at my brothers and they smile and nod "Yeah. We love that you're our nieces and nephews." Rocky says and I smile "See? Grandma and grandpa will love you too." I say. The doorbell rings and I send the kids back upstairs "Are you ready?" Ratliff says from beside me "As ready as I'll ever be." I say and he holds my hand "Riker, why are we at someone's house? Do you know this person?" I hear mom say and then they appear in the living room doorway. I stand up "Hey mom and dad." I say and they immediately look over at me "Rydel? Is that really you?" Mom says with tears in her eyes and I feel tears coming down my own cheeks as they run over and hug me tightly. I missed them so much. I missed how dad would always want to know if I was okay and how mom would always want to know what I thought of a new recipe she had tried out. They eventually pull away and I wipe the tears off my cheeks "We missed you, baby girl." Dad says and I feel tears in my eyes again. I'm really glad I'm wearing waterproof mascara right now. "We missed you, honey, more than you'll ever know." Mom says. We all sit back down on the couches "So why'd you leave?" Mom asks and I take a deep breath "I left because I got pregnant. Me and the baby's father had gotten drunk and the next morning I woke up next to him in bed. I was scared you guys wouldn't want to have anything to do with me. I left the following week after I found out I was pregnant. I just couldn't face you guys knowing that I got pregnant before marriage." I say and they look at me shocked but mom is the first to react "Really? You have a child? Where is it? Oh my gosh! I'm a grandma!" She says and I laugh "You guys want to meet them?" I ask and they nod "Okay. Guys! Come down here! Grandma and grandpa want to meet you!" I say and then hear feet trampling down the stairs. I stand up as they stand in front of me "Mom and Dad, meet you Mason, Carter, Maddie and Carly. Your grandkids." I say. They look at the kids shocked "You had quadruplets? Wow." Dad says and mom kneels in front of the kids "Okay, who's name is who?" She asks and I laugh as the kids say their names again. It's a couple hours later when the kids are playing out in the backyard when mom and dad ask who the kids father is "Um, the father is Ellington." I say "You Elam to tell me that Ellington Ratliff is the father of our grandkids?" Dad says and I smile and nod "Yes. The father is Ellington." I say and then feel arms wrap around me waist from behind and he nuzzles his face into my neck "Well, I'm glad it's him and not someone we don't know." Dad says and I smile "Me too." I say
