Pandora's POV

"Okay, so this path that we're taking, is one of the main paths we take everyday. This is the path you will take when you want to shower," Newt said as he pulled me along the narrow path that is surrounded by thick, dense forestry. I looked around, but there was honestly nothing to really look at. Every angle I looked, there were trees. Trees were everywhere and they looked menacing as they stood stiff and how thick and green they were.

"You walk through this everyday?" I ask as I look at my now red shins. The plants were scattered on every inch of the ground and I had no shoes, so they rubbed against my shins and hurt my feet. I took a double take and realised I was wearing shorts, exposing my legs to everyone and anything.

"I do because I like to be clean, but I don't know about the rest of them," he says and turns a bit so he could see me. I nodded slightly and he turned back around, shaking his head.

"What?"

"It was that bad?" he says, not even looking at me.

"How would you know?" I asked as I stared at the back of his head, waiting to hear his answer.

"You have scars up and down your thighs. Same with your wrist," he simply said. I stopped for a second, then continued following him.

"My parents.......they would abuse me everyday after I would come from school. They were always drunk, but when they were sober, they payed no attention to me, so it was like I wasn't even living in the house. People at school would bully me and beat me up on top of what my parents would do to me," I explained, but then was asking myself why am I explaining this to him? He probably doesn't even care.

"How would no one realise that you weren't being beaten? When you came here you looked pretty bad. How would no one realise that you got hit in the face when they can see that you didn't look how you looked the day before?" Newt asked and looked at me over his shoulder.

"The wonders of what makeup can do. I hate that stuff, but it's great if I want to cover up a bruise or something-"

"What happens when you get a busted lip? You can't cover that up, it'll get infected," he interrupted and I glanced at him, but he wasn't looking at me.

"I would take a few days off school saying that I'm sick and I wouldn't miss any classes because my teachers would e-mail me my homework," I said simply and stared at the ground as we continued walking.

"We're here," Newt said as I realised the plants started slowly being replaced by sand.

"We don't have any real showers, but it's either this or you stay dirty for the rest of your life," Newt said and stopped. I stood beside him and looked around the beach. I noticed a small wooden chest, but I continued to look around.

"Where are the towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner?" I asked and looked up at him.

"This isn't a five star hotel, love. It's Neverland," he chuckled and looked down at me.

"But, you and Pan have magic. Plus, it doesn't mean that y'all shouldn't have towels and soap-"

"We have towels and soap, but we usually use the soap as our shampoo and conditioner," he said simply and looked around the beach.

"How are you guys so sure this water is good enough to bathe in?" I question and raise an eyebrow.

"It's safe because the mermaids don't come here. Other than that, nothing else lives in this water."

"Why don't the mermaids come over he-"

"You know, you ask way too much bloody questions when I should be asking you some," he interrupted again and stared down at me. I stare back at him and was about to fire something back, but decided not to. "What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?"
