"Being strong doesn't mean you have to fight the battle. True strength is being adult enough to walk away from the nonsense with your head held high..."
"Remember call me, I will stay close," Kieran narrowed his eyes towards me; demanding me to phone him when the shit hits the fan which it always does.
My anxiety grew within me as I tried to keep my breathing steady, Kieran was one of the few people I could let my cold exterior down around as I turned my phone on silent, ignoring all my important emails being delivered to my work mobile.
So caught up in my own thoughts I never noticed Keiran getting out the car to open my door before his hand was in front of my face, a smirk on his gorgeous face at catching me off guard.
"I need a coffee," I mumbled softly as I pushed myself out the car, fixing my dress to smooth the wrinkles, that was the last thing I needed with a mother like mine.
"You seriously have an addiction Sapphire," he chuckled softly, his eyes lightening a shade as he laced his hand through mine, guiding me to the mansion where I spent my childhood, the mansion I hated with a passion. Not as much as the people inside.
My steps were slow as I fought the urge to run back to the car, my bottle of wine was already being chilled in my fridge awaiting my return. There was not one occasion where dinner with my parents hasn't turned into a full blown argument.
It got to the stage my brothers always refused to come always making excuses up or magically being in another country all of a sudden. Some brothers leaving me to the wolfs but I couldn't blame them if I could of spewed out constant lies like them I sure as hell wouldn't be patiently waiting at the door of the mansion. Not aloud to walk into my childhood home without chapping.
"For the love of god what took you so long?" my mothers irritating voice made my hand tighten in Kierans as he shot me a sympathetic look. He hated the woman just as much as I did, maybe even slightly more considering he couldn't get away from her, being there was his job.
"I am no later than the time my father give my assistant," I replied coldly as her eyes done a once over of my outfit, an un-amused look on her face the full time as I held in my nasty comments about the recent work her plastic surgeon had done.
"Leave," my mother shot at Kieran as he held his hands up in defense before all but running back to the car, in a hurry to get away from the horrid woman.
"How rude of you mother," I smiled politely as my hand twitched to strangle the disgrace of a woman.
"We have guests, lets not ruin their night with our unkept staff," she spoke harshly before turning her back on me, stalking into the house as I trailed behind her, holding in the curse words that were desperate to spill out.
The house was the same as always, cold. The marble floors and white walls didn't do much to make it feel homely. The massive rooms with tall ceilings making it hard to get the right temperature throughout the full house.
Lets not forget the multiple pictures of my brothers that hung proudly on the walls; their pride and joy.
