"Thank you for the pain it made me raise my game.."

One look at him had my body trembling with many emotions, emotions I couldn't even describe due to the severe power of them.

Thick black hair sat messily against his head giving him a relaxed vibe about him. The vibe I used to love so much.

His suit clung to his perfectly sculptured masculine frame in all the right areas, defining his perfect muscles.

His eyes though, the way he looked at me was no longer the same. The love was gone as he looked at me like a stranger;  the blank stare. I used to find his cold exterior amusing when watching him fight off all the women; now though on the receiving end it wasn't very pleasant.

I couldn't let him get to me. I had built my walls around me for the past few years and I wasn't going to let him knock them down.

"Darien," my voice was calm and polite despite my nerves rattling within me. My stressful morning getting much worse as I made a mental note to turn my phone off and stay in a hotel where no one could find me.

"Treasure," the devious smirk didn't go unnoticed as my breathing caught within my throat. He was mocking me.

"What do you want?" I questioned as I raised my eyebrow at him. Ignoring the coldness from the open door hitting my bare legs.

"You've changed," he whispered softly, all hatred gone from his eyes as he stepped towards me, into my home before I could protest.

I didn't want him anywhere near me never mind in my home. I couldn't break all over again.

"Such is life," I muttered before walking away from the toxic man, the thought of my coffee getting colder concerned me more than having to deal with another second of anyone's bullshit.

His footsteps followed behind me as I cursed under my breath, silently hoping he would of got the hint and left already.

I ignored the clutter on my kitchen table, my hand diving straight for my cup of coffee before sitting down on the chair in front of my laptop.

Darien stood for awhile, his curious eyes scanning my home,  a scowl coming onto my face as he looked at all the photos on my kitchen fridge; none of them including him. There was even some with him cut out from the picture.

It was bad enough having to look at him in magazines never mind on my own kitchen fridge.

"You left rather rudely last night," his voice was hard as he continued to glare at my fridge.

"Save it, I had this talk already 10 minutes ago," my eyes scanned my emails trying to take my mind off the man in front of me. My hands trembling slightly as I cursed to myself. I couldn't fall for him all over again, it was too dangerous.
