"Okay you guys, just work on these bars and try to keep the chatter to a dull roar. I'm going into my office to go through sheet music."
With the smooth back of the guitar pressed to my chest, I hold the neck with my left hand and tap my foot as I look over the sheet music, hearing the notes in my head before I try it on my guitar.
"Hey Tara, do you know what we're doing in Spanish today," Darren asks from behind me.
Glancing over my shoulder quickly, I shake my head in response "no, I actually don't." Then I continue fretting out the piece we're supposed to be playing while the band director's in his office.
The rest of class passes in a blur. Sheyna tells me about some problems she's having with her boyfriend. Darren more or less left me in peace after my short response about Spanish, which of course had to be my next class.
By the time I make it to the Spanish classroom, he's somehow already beat me there, and is waiting in our corner of the room with an all too telling look in his eye. Taking a few calming breaths, I walk over and take my seat across from him, getting my notebook and pen out. After a few moments of complete silence, I turn my head and look at him, and lo and behold, he's staring at me.
"What?"
"You're different. What's going on?"
"Nothing, Darren. It's fine."
"No, in girl, fine means all hell has broke loose, so why don't you tell me."
Knowing he's not going to drop it until I spill SOME sort of information, I open my mouth to say something, and in walks Stephanie.
"We'll talk about it later.." I say, giving him a pleading look. He seems to get the hint luckily, and doesn't press it any further. Stephanie stays on her phone the entire class, and we go over some different grammar forms to form a sentence correctly.
Finally, the bell rings. Of course, Stephanie darts for the exit before I can even blink, and I'm left with Darren staring at me once again."Okay, so when would you like to talk?"
"Uhh..now?"
He shrugs, "fine by me!"
We walk out of class together and go out to the parking lot to his car. Darren and his brothers all share cars, so it's not in pristine condition. It's still a nice older Ford Mustang though. I walk around to the passenger side, and he unlocks the door for me, scrambling to pull energy drink cans and empty tic tac containers out of the seat.
"Wow, I didn't know I was getting in a car with Pauly Bleeker."
Now, if you haven't been living under a rock for the past.. Oh I don't know.. Seven years, you should know that Pauly Bleeker is the kid on the movie Juno that always has orange tic tacs with him at all times. I find this to be a hilarious coincidence.
"HA, no you're not.. Nice one though!"
I climb in and shut the door.
"May I ask where we're going?"
"Nope," he says, popping the p for effect, "just sit back and enjoy the ride."
A few minutes later, we pull up to the park. Getting out of the car, I make my way over to the climbing structures. I'm 5'2" so any chance to be higher up is a win win. Darren follows behind me and climbs onto a lower level and sits down, watching me climb around before I finally drop beside him and sit cross-legged.
"So, here we are."
"You're really building this up, James."
"You're dragging it out, Thomas."
Darren and I have always had a thing with calling each other our last names when we mean business.
I take a deep breath, unsure of the decision I just made, but begin regardless..
"So.. It all began with...-"

Oh SHOOOTTT..
Hey guys! I know I've been out of the game for awhile, and believe me I'M SORRY. There's been a lot going on the last couple of years. A lot. I may consider writing on that subject a bit, but I also feel Tara deserves an ending. Let's shut this chapter before we start another one, shall we?
I know the updates are hectic, but I have a new direction I'm going to take this, and there's a lot more inspiration with this route than the previously planned one. I hope you guys finish the story, because it'll be one to remember.
As always, thank you for reading.
