He lost me.
“What?”
He spun around to face me. “What if all those times, in front of everyone, I wasn’t acting and I actually meant it?”
I was still lost.
“Um… can you please explain to me what you mean?”
“I mean, I… arg!” he rested his head in his hands. “You make this so hard!”
Hey, I wasn’t doing anything! I was just sitting here.
“I’m not doing anything to make this hard!”
“I do like you.”
“Well, I’d hope so. I mean, it’d be weird if you did all those things and didn’t like me a little.”
As you can probably see, sarcasm is my automatic defense.
He rolled his eyes. “No, I mean.. I…”
Slowly, his meaning dawned on me.
I grinned slowly. “You like me!”
He groaned again.
I smirked and scooted closer to him. “That was a very round-about way to tell me.”
“Shut up.”
I cautiously took his hand. He didn’t pull away.
“Calm down. I like you, too.”
He looked up, his eyes now much lighter. “Yeah?”
“Well, yeah. Did I or did I not say I loved you when I was drunk?”
“You did.”
“Mmhm. In sober life, that means I like you.”
“Okay.”
“So… we’re good now?”
He answered by kissing me.

“You what?”
I beamed. “I finished writing.”
Nattie grinned at me. “Like, a book?”
“Two hundred pages, baby.” I held my hand up for a high five, which he slapped.
“That’s excellent, Amy!”
“I know!”
“Are you going to publish it?”
I stopped staring out the window and stared at him instead. “Whoa, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I just finished writing it, like, this morning.”
“Do I get to read it?”
I blushed. “If you want to.”
“Definitely.”
“Then, okay. I’ll email it to you?”
“Sounds good.”
We smiled at each other.
“So how’s your recording going?” I asked.
“Amazingly. Another song done!”
“When do you guys thing you’ll be able to release a full album?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know… maybe around next April? May?”
“Awesome! Just in time for summer!”
“That’s the plan.”
“You know what would be even more awesome,” I began, giving him a pleading look. “If you guys gave me an earlier edition for Christmas.”
