Ivy
I felt the sudden urge to pee. So when I managed to lift my heavy eyelids, all I saw was darkness. There was barely anything visible. It was dark, and the only source of light was from a table lamp beside me.
I blinked a few times to make my eyes adjust to the dim lighting. When my vision was finally clear, I looked down and saw that I was in a green gown, covered by a white duvet. Where the hell am I?
As I tried to make my way out of the bed, I felt my body aching, like I haven't moved in days. How long was I here? And why does it have such a strong medical smell? Am I... Am I in a hospital?
As I was moving, I felt that my hand was being covered by a warm... Hand? I looked closer... Blake? What is he doing here? What happened?
The thoughts vanished when the pain in my abdomen increased. I immediately pushed Blake's hand away as I rushed to the toilet. (It was a single hospital ward, so there was a toilet attached to it.)
As I was doing my business in the toilet. Blake consistently knocked-- No wait, banged on the door with all his might, shouting, "IVY? WHAT HAPPENED? ARE YOU OKAY? DO YOU NEED ME TO CALL THE DOCTOR?"
After a few moments...
"ACTUALLY, WAIT NO, I'VE ALREADY CALLED THE DOCTOR... COME OUT SOON THOUGH."
I smiled at that comment as I cleaned up; I used a clean thin comb place in the 'sanitary box' to comb my hair, hoping to make myself more presentable. I even spent some time to brush and floss my teeth before heading out.
"Are you okay? Why did you go into the toilet in such a rush?" Blake hurriedly asked me as he gripped my arms tightly as soon as I was out of the toilet.
"I will not be fine if you keep holding me this tight..." I chuckled as I tried to lighten the mood. And yeah, it did, almost immediately, I saw Blake's stiff shoulder relax as he let go of me to let the doctor do a basic medical check on me.

After the doctor was done, he said that I could go home the following week. So when the doctor left, I turned to Blake to ask him what had happened.
I moved over to one side of the bed as I pat the empty side to motion Blake to have a seat.
"So, Blake... What exactly happened?" I said softly.
Blake sighed and ran his hand through his hair, tousling it as he started the story.
"Well, you see... That bas– your father hit you, no wait. He smashed the beer bottle against your head--" yes, yes he did. I remembered the scene too vividly. Blake was about to go when he opened the door, and without warning, slammed the bottle against my head. I breathed in deeply as I closed my eyes.
"Ivy, you okay?"
I opened my eyes again as I replied Blake softly, "yes, please continue. What happened after that?"
"Alright then." Blake sighed. "He was raising the bottle for another hit. I just couldn't see you get hurt right in front of my eyes anymore. Which father does that to their child?!"
Blake was getting more and more agitated as he spoke. His fists were slowly curling up. As his breath quickened.
"So I ran towards your father and took the second hit. And I was so angry I punched your father quite a few times. Still not sorry that he went out cold."
Blake finished as his chest was heaving up and down furiously. I moved closer to comfort him as I wrapped my hand around his curled fist, hoping to calm him down and it did. Almost instantly.
"It's okay, I guess. Nobody has really defended me against my father before. You're the first one." I felt my heart flutter as I said that. Nobody really did help me whenever Father or Mother did something to me.
Ashley was there, yes. Whenever I got beaten, not too badly, I would sneak out that very night to her house and stay the night. She tried to meddle with it. But I told her not to interfere as she couldn't beat the both of them and I couldn't bear to see her get hurt.
"Oh and by the way, you're staying with me." Blake said casually as if it isn't anything. My eyes widened. It felt as though it was going to drop out any moment soon. I was going to object, but he beat me to it.
"You don't need to worry, Ivy. That guy is currently in prison. And plus, I'm here, what could you be afraid of?" Blake grinned widely as he looked me in the eye.
"O-Okay. But, I need to pack some things from my house first."
"Sure, we'll go there after you're discharged."
With Blake here now, I know for a fact that everything's going to be alright. It will be.
