**Kellin's POV**
"So what you're telling me, is that some kind of reaper guy with a fucking scythe wants you dead?" I heard a vaguely familiar voice ask in an incredulous tone.
"He is death and he doesn't have a scythe, you idiot, but yes basically." Vic's by now very familiar voice replied as both men came walking into the living room.
Ah, I recognized him now. He was the same guy who was here during that dumb ass séance thing. Jimmy or Jamie, was it? I didn't really remember. That day was too weird for me.
"Okay." The guy spoke slowly. "And he is after you because...?"
Vic sighed dramatically. "Because I cheated death by using a machine so I could go to the other side. I broke the rules and now he's pissed."
"And you went to this supposed other side to hang with Casper?"
"Kellin." Vic corrected him between gritted teeth. Man, he sounded annoyed. It was almost amusing. "Seriously Jaime, I explained this entire thing to you twice on the way here. Why are you still asking me questions?" He then exclaimed before throwing himself onto the couch, very closely beside me. But I guess he hadn't noticed.
"Because this sounds crazy, Vic. Fucking insane, even!" Jaime, I guess his name was, suddenly yelled, throwing his arms in the air. "You're telling me that you used some wacko machine to kill yourself so you could be with some guy that you think you're in love with- who may I remind you is dead- and then bring you back to life? And that's why this death figure is trying to kill you?"
Wow.
Back the truck up.
Did Jaime just say what I think he said?
Vic let out a soft sigh, looking down at his hands as he aimlessly fumbled around with his fingers. "Yes, that's what I've been telling you this entire time. And I knew you wouldn't understand."
I felt so bad for Vic. This was really all my fault. If I hadn't encouraged him into helping me figure out how I died, then he wouldn't have been in this mess.
"I knew you had issues, Vic. But this surpasses even that." Jaime muttered. That remark kinda made me want to smack him in the face. Of course this whole thing would be hard to understand, but come on, cut him some slack!
"Again, Jaime, this has nothing to do with what happened a year ago." Vic murmured with a deep sigh.
"Really Vic, doesn't it? Because it looks to me like you still have that same damned attitude, like you still want to die."
Still?
Why would Vic want to die?
What happened a year ago?
"You know I blamed Tony's death on myself." Vic whispered, almost inaudible, but since he was right beside me, I could hear it clear as day. "But I'm over that. I don't want to die, Jaime, I just don't really care if I do. I never did."
Jaime crouched down before Vic, looking at him apologetically. "There was a time when you did, though. Remember? You ran down the street yelling how you wanted to live forever."
Vic chuckled, rolling his eyes in amusement, like he was fond of the memory. "Yeah, well, things change, Hime-time. Don't get me wrong; I'm trying everything I can to find a way out of this mess. I don't want to die, but if I do... then maybe I can be with Kellin, you know? So if I do die, then I accept it, because I do think that I'm in love with him, Jaime." He spoke softly.
I swear, if I had a beating heart, it would've skipped a hundred beats just there at the sound of him saying that.
I carefully put my hand on Vic's leg, letting him know of my presence. He let out a quiet laugh as he turned his head, looking right at me, if he could've seen me.
"You heard that, didn't you?" He said, slight embarrassment clear in his voice.
"Is he here?" Jaime then asked, sort of looking in my direction.
"Yep." Vic confirmed with a soft sigh, but he didn't look away from me. "And I bet you've been sitting there listening the entire time, you little shit."
Guilty.
I giggled softly, not being able to hold it back and softly squeezed his leg.
"I'll take that as a yes." Vic then murmured in amusement, genuinely smiling for the first time during that entire conversation. God I loved his smile. It lit up my dark, lonely world like nothing else.
Jaime got back up on his feet, taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly. "Alright, well, I guess I understand now. I'm sorry for freaking out on you like that." He spoke sincerely.
Vic turned to him and nodded. "It's fine, I get it."
"Is there any way I can help you?" Jaime then asked. "I mean, if you are actually trying to find a way around this, I'd like to help. Maybe that gypsy woman knows a thing or two. I mean, she was obviously legit when it came to Casper, right?"
I rolled my eyes dramatically.
"For the millionth time, his name is Kellin." Vic breathed, chuckling and shaking his head like he thought he might as well give up on correcting his friend. "And yeah, sure, we can give it a try."
I smiled, now grateful for this weird spikey-haired friend of Vic's. I really hoped they could find something to get rid of death's ass. Vic really didn't deserve to die. I wasn't just going to let him either, trust me. Not even after his confession.
Especially not after that.
