"You know what I think?" thought Light. "I think you're lonely."
"Why would you say that?" I asked.
"Think about it, Knives. When was the last time you had a conversation with someone that didn't involve them cursing you to Hell or begging you to spare them?" Light asked me.
"Why would he want that? Those beasts are only good for being destroyed." Argued Night. "No one would understand us anyway."
"Night has a point there. Have we ever met anyone worth my care?" I pointed out, rhetorically.
"How would you know? You only pay attention to the ones you hate. Is killing your only interest?"
"It should be." Night thought.
"Light..." I thought, my eyes narrowing in solemn thought. "You're right. I'm all alone."
"Yes, Knives. That's right. There is no hope for you." Night added.
"Light...Light!" I said out loud, my voice rising in volume and intensity. "Why did you have to make me feel this?! I was..I was okay! This HURTS! I don't want hurt! You just make me WANT! What good is that? Yes, it hurts. What do you want me to do about it?!"
"There's no hope, Knives." Night thought, seizing the opportunity. "Only pain. That's all that's left. You don't want it. Escape it. There's only one way."
"Yes." I spoke aloud again. "Yes, I understand." Light, understanding his fault, kept silent. He resigned to the depths of my mind, his weak protest escaping my attention. I stood over the large table in the center, displaying my collection of torturing materials and blades. I selected a small knife with a diamond-shaped blade.
"Heart, Night?" I asked silently, tracing a circle on my chest as I started a half smile.
"Your choice, Knives." Night replied, obviously enjoying the adrenaline.
"I say wrists." Light thought. "That way, you can watch yourself bleed."
"Light.." Night and I thought in disbelief.
"I'm part of you, Knives. Even I have a dark side."
I put down the knife and selected another, thiner one. One better for slicing, not stabbing. I pushed the tip against my wrist and watched the dent it made in my skin before it split it open.
