"Wait a minute you mean your English teacher called your mother who called your father to come and take you to London with him?" Montana asked making sure everything I had explained to her was registering into her brain. Everything had happened so fast as soon as I returned home from school, I realized that being handed the detention second period meant that the remaining time I spent in school after Mr Wilson called my mother was only two hours less for my father to show up at my doorstep waiting for me to return to England, where I am originally from, so I can get some sort of reality check for them.
I had opened my door only to regret as soon as my fathers exasperated features. He wasn't the type to make time to fly across the world so he can pick up his daughter who needs to be taken to a school where she can be taught how to behave. At the age of twenty one when my parents were still attending college, their parents had set them up to have an arranged marriage. It hadn't started out well as both of them were planning on having wild futures. As time went by, the two warmed up to each other. That was until I came along as an unexpected surprise. My father was already struggling with two kids and didn't need a third so they got a divorce when my dad had decided he had nothing left to do with us.
At some point of my life I was on his side, I understood that his father was the richest man in the US having connection with anyone and everyone who is important all over the world. He was busy and I was a little girl who needed two parents to love her and show her the world. I guess I'm just not that lucky to have that kind of luxury in my life. He sent us money regularly, he sent me letters which I had stashed up in a pillow case. I would spend hours upon hours writing to him, not that I ever sent then, and rereading the ones he oh so carefully sent.
Soon enough as time went by, my mother declined everything he sent to us including the notes he spent his time writing, sending them straight back to the same address. I felt hurt not being able to see what he had written but my mum wanted to cut off all connections between the two of us not leaving any memories in my mind. While the boys had the pleasure of spending a month with him every summer holiday, I was stuck at home or in Egypt with my cousins. My aunts are exotic and had a weird adoration to living in the weirdest places, I never quite understood how their logic worked.
"They want me to go to school in London thinking that it's going to improve my attitude and get the same grades as my brothers" I sighed allowing my head to fall into the palms of my hands. I hadn't known my mother's threat this morning was going to become reality. I was used to her throwing those kind of statements at me but I knew she loved me too much and had worked too hard to separate me from my father to throw me at him, no matter what the emergency is.
Just as Montana opened her mouth to speak the new song 'Do it again' by Pia Mia blared through her phone making my small figure leap up in surprise. We had been sitting in silence for a while with only the sound of our voices running through my bedroom being heard so it came as a shock. Her simple but perfectly manicured black and white French tip index finger shot up in the air telling me to wait a minute as she rushed into my connected bathroom, securely locking the door after her.
Only a split second later my main door burst open and in came Damien with his arm wrapped around his girlfriend's waist, Annabel. My brothers girlfriend was a stunner and she knew it herself, emphasizing it, using every inch of the gift god had oh so kindly granted for her. From her hair to her figure, there was nothing about that girl that could be changed making every person who looks at her self-conscious. I don't fall for her though.
