"Diane, have you seen this letter? Do you know what this means? God. Are they sending this letter to your mother? She is going to freak out. I swear that women is going to be getting the first flight back. You know they might be taking you away for us? Do you know hard that this is going to be on her, your brothers...or even me?" My dad continued to fire questions at me as we both stood in the living room, in an empty house. Everyone was out at this time and I guess it was the only opportunity he had to blame just another situation on me.
"Dad, I didn't do anything I swear" I screamed above his voice plopping down on the couch behind me. Just listening to his voice was sucking the life out of me and I couldn't bear it anymore. "Has mum ever told you about the problem one of the teachers caused with me?" I asked earning a nod from the ma standing before me. "He's the head teacher in this school. He called me in about some tutoring thing but it turns out he just wanted to give me this letter. Do you really think I would be able to cause a problem like this on my first day of school?" I asked wondering if this is what my parents thought of me.
"I knew it was a bad idea to bring you here. I knew this was the worst conclusion your mother could come to. It's like she doesn't realize who you truly are. You have this façade built up around her that she's so oblivious to and it's kind of weird knowing she was the one who raised you when I left. Your mother should have just sent you to boarding school, it's what I told her when she called me and halfway through a business meeting and shouting and screaming to come collect her crazed daughter" he yelled once again, this time though he hadn't realized that we were accompanied by Katelyn, Maddie, Jackson and his group of friends...right from the beginning of his little outburst.
"You know what, if you didn't want that letter then you shouldn't have opened it let alone travel all the way to California and come get me personally. Some decisions are made by you and those two...three actually are your fault" I returned my voice to its normal volume as I walked to the doorway where everyone stood. "Oh and if mum, Aiden on Damien call anytime soon, just tell them to save their money. I'll be taking the flight back, if I feel like going to the other half of my family which by the looks of it probably won't want me too. If they don't I'm pretty sure there are a few houses in North Pole I can get" I fake smiled to him before stomping upstairs to my room.
Not wanting to waste any more time in this place, my hands immediately started to pack my things like I had done with Montana, this time though, there was no Montana. I didn't want to move, I mean, I just got here after not seeing my father for so many years. Now I think being spontaneous would be the one thing that is going to help me. If my own father doesn't want me, what are the chances of my mother wanting me? It's not that I'm doubting my family or anything, but I can guess that with everyone thinking the same, it won't hurt.
"You're not leaving, you just got here and you're mum is in hospital. Listen I know you don't know this but Damien and Aiden had a joint wedding. Kind of saw it from Aiden but not Damien. Anyways the point is you can't go back, your family is finally starting to do something with their lives and you can't hold them back" apparently my father had followed me up to the room to continue bursting the bubble around me. His word kept playing in my head as I replayed his previous ones. Was this how my life was going to play?
"Okay you know what, stop! Both of you just need to stop this right now because it isn't going to get you anywhere. Joe, this is what's getting her sent away, this is partially your fault so you need to stop playing spin the wheel with her. And Diane, you can't just pack up and leave. Joe if this is how you're going to be treating all kids then why did you have any?" Katelyn stood in between the two bickering people including myself. "And Joe for the record if you didn't know, both Milly and Janelle have been here since the beginning. Is that the first impression you wanted to give them?" She asked eyeing him up and down. For once I felt like I belonged in her arms, like she was the only one that mattered.
