"He turned to alcohol after he lost his job, always coming home late, yelling at mum. abusing her. All i could do was stand and watch from a distance. One time i tried to help mum but he shoved me out of the way. I was only 7 anyway. He ended up going to jail, for murder. I never thought my life would end up like this. I always believed in love. But maybe he didn't love mum as much as he appeared to."
Logan finished his story, with tears building in his eyes. I sat and listened intently, but one question was still floating around in my mind. I turned to logan, "...but why were all those kids at school bullying you today?" I asked with the most innocence i could.
He looked up at me.
"They think im going to hurt you just as my dad did. I don't know how they found out about my dad. You're the only one that i've told, and thats because i know i can trust you." Logan suddenly found amusement in the fluffy blue carpet situated in the middle of the floor. Why are kids at school worrying about me? They've never cared? And he trust's me? How could he trust me? I could barely trust myself...I wondered over to his desk and noticed even more of the drawings. Family's and couples... Heaps of them. Logan came up behind me and took a drawing out of my hand. I turned around and looked at him. He looked down at me, then back to the drawing. "I wish i had a family like these. Complete and happy." I didn't know what to say, so i just softly nodded and made my way back to his bed.
Sometime that night, I went home and went to sleep thinking about how logan's from a broken family, and that its probably my fault that he's going to be subjected to bullying.
