The One Left Behind

Chapter 17: It is hard.

(Tuesday, Kylee's point of view)

Yesterday, Jaylin and I went to the waterfall place he showed me a while ago. It was really relaxing after everything I said yesterday. It was just nice to get away from everything that happened ever sense I met Blair, in fact. Just anytime I hear her name or see her face I get anxiety. I know maybe it doesn't show, but Blair really scares me... Ok, maybe it shows, but whatever.

(Lunch Time)

Jaylin: Ok, Kylee. I have some really great news for you!
Kylee: (Confused) Oh. Ok...
Jaylin: I'm not telling you until you get excited!
Kylee: Alright, fine! What is it?
Jaylin: Ok. So, don't hate me for this, I told my mom about you being, quote on quote, homeless and she felt sad about the fact that-
Kylee: You WHAT?
Jaylin: What did I say?
Kylee: I don't hate you! It's just, why?
Jaylin: She wanted to know more about you and at the heat of the moment, it just spilled out.
Kylee: (Long Sigh) Just, continue.
Jaylin: Ok. So, my mom felt upset and she said you can stay!
Kylee: What do you mean?
Jaylin: You can stay at my house!
Kylee: For real?
Jaylin: Yes, Kylee!
Kylee: Wow... I don't know what to say...
Jaylin: How about this?

I make a confused face and a split second later, Jaylin leaned close and kissed me. So many thoughts were going though my head. I don't know if moving in was a good idea. I'm scared of the risk. My thoughts got the best of me and I couldn't help but to groan.

Jaylin: (Releases) What's wrong?
Kylee: I don't know if this is a good idea.
Jaylin: Why not?
Kylee: Blair... She's crazy. And she hates me... Who knows what she might do to your family.
Jaylin: My mom?
Kylee: Yes. Your mom and dad and stuff.
Jaylin: (Faint) My dad...
Kylee: Hey, I've never seen your dad before. Where is he?
Jaylin: My dad... He left...
Kylee: I understand. You don't have to finish.
Jaylin: He didn't leave. He committed suicide (Eyes Watering). He was depressed (Voice cracking). He couldn't take it anymore...

Ever sentence, every word, every breath. It just got more and more emotional.

Jaylin: I really do get what you're going though, Ky. It is hard. That's why I approach the topic so carefully. I'm trying to give you as much affection as you need to feel better. It's everything my mom gave to me...

I didn't know how to respond. I thought "thank you" was too low. I'm so great full.

Kylee: You're right.
Jaylin: About what?
Kylee: Even though my mom's not here, I have you.
Jaylin: (Smiles and hugs)

While we were hugging, Blair creeps up in front of us.

Blair: So, I've never seen you kiss before...
Jaylin: (Releases Kylee) You were watching?!?
Blair: Yes...
Jaylin: Why were you watching!?
Blair: Oh, you know...
Jaylin: Answer!

It felt like they were going back and forth forever. I'm just sitting there, quietly. Before I even knew it, I started starring off into space for about three minutes.

Jaylin: Kylee!
Kylee: Huh?
Jaylin: Isn't that right?
Kylee: What?
Jaylin: Isn't that right?
Kylee: What?
Jaylin: Kylee! Back me up!
Kylee: Uh... Sure..
Jaylin: Thank you!
Blair: Whatever! (Walks away)

I don't even know what happened. I just said "sure." At least she left.

Jaylin: (Big Exhale) Finally! Thanks for backing me up!
Kylee: Yeah...
Jaylin: Sorry she had to just interrupt us like that.
Kylee: No. It's fine.

(End of Day)

After 7th period, I find Jaylin and walk... home. Wow it's crazy saying that. "I walked home with Jaylin!" Haha! I can finally call an actual house a "home."

While we were walking, Jaylin reassured me. He told me that I have nothing to worry about and that Blair wouldn't do anything to him, me, or his mom. Him saying that really made me happy and excited to go to my new home. We walk up to the front door and pause there for a moment.

Jaylin: Are you ready?
Kylee: Yes!
Jaylin: Alright...

He opens the door. Behind the door was the best sights I've ever seen that made me put the biggest smile on my face.
