Standing beside Shadow's shaking body, Sonic had tears of his own falling. Just a little after Shadow found out that Mariea died, Cream was killed by Scourge, who was then in turn killed by Midnight and Sonic, himself dealing the killing blow.
Shadow asked that Cream and Mariea be buried together, because he used to babysit them together, and wanted them to stay together in death.
As the caskets were lowered, Shadow finally stood up. "Can we take a walk? I wanna talk to someone....." Sonic nodded and took Shadow to the wall border between the forest and the kingdom. They started walking along the interior of the wall. "Sonic, I want to ask you something. Please answer honestly." Shadow looks around, making sure no one could see them or over hear. "Do you like me?" Sonic took in a deep breath. "Why do you ask?" He retorted. "You kissed me on the day my sister died. Why?" Sonic shrugs, and then he kisses his cheek and smiles. "Come camp with me in the forest. We can talk more there."
