Anela

I hurried to the rec room where all the commotion seemed to be. I got to the doorway and it was mayhem, everyone was yelling and trying to get their two cents worth in.

"Come on, I'm an old frail lady all bent up from this life, I deserve to go."

"What are you talking about?" I say trying to get in but all my efforts are drowned out by the roar of everyone's disputes.

"I think Anela should go," Marie's voice cuts through the disputes causing everyone's head to snap and turn to her.

"What did you just say?" one of the butlers says, his voice filled with disgust.

"All of you brawling over who should go and only thinking about yourselves, I say that Anela should go to Hawaii." My heart skips a beat, did Marie just say Hawaii? I must be dreaming, she must have said Mexico or Chile or Haiti or some poor country in the world. Hawaii should be the last one the list.

"Hawaii would be a perfect opportunity for Anela; a young girl like her shouldn't be stuck in this life. Think about it, would you want to be stuck here at her age, unable to discover the world. Anela has never experience how beautiful the world can be, we have, Anela came here when she was only one. Think about it, this is a once-in-a-lifetime offer, Anela will never get this chance again, let her have some chance of a good life." Marie pleads. The room is silent; everyone is moved by Marie's powerful speech.

"Here, here," everyone turns to see the agreement made by Hilary. Hilary just shrugs it off, "The woman's got a point, the child's gotta have some happiness." Pretty soon after that everyone is agreeing and it is decided that I will go to Hawaii to accompany Lady Smith for her relaxing holiday. I was happy beyond compare; I felt that this would bring me somewhat closer to the dream of being a Hawaiian princess.

"Thank you," I say to Marie later that night.

"Don't even think about it child you deserve it, besides it will help you get over your little infatuation." As she says that an image of a smiling Edmund James comes to mind, I swallow and try to get rid of the image but it is no use. I sigh maybe this trip will help me find my place I this strange world. With these thoughts in my head I start packing what little things I have for the trip.
