She bolted upright, a silenced scream leaving her mouth hanging wide open. Colors swam in front of her, far away in her vision. Where was she? Her stomach twisted, the knots tugging in all directions, and Paisley twisted, clambering towards the ground. A second to late, she felt the air between her and what she'd been laying on, and went hurtling to the ground with a loud crash. Her palms pressed against the rough ground and she hoisted herself to her knees, feeling the heavy weight of gravity twist the inside of her stomach plummet it down. Swallowing back acidic bile, Paisley winced as it left a raw, burning scorch behind. Sweat clung plasters of black hair of her cheeks and neck that were splattered red and with fingers that felt like they'd been ground down by sand, Paisley pulled the strands of hair from her skin. A raspy breath of air left from between dry and cracked lips, rattling the lungs that were wound tightly, making her chest feel constricted. Fresh tears pricked the corners of her eyes, but in a swift movement, she wiped them away with the back of her hand.

"Paisley," the wary voice of Theo had dark eyes shooting upwards, glistening in newly unshed tears. He was just a shadow in the doorway, but loomed tall in the darkened room, frail and thin. His head just barely brushed the tip of the doorframe. "Why don't you come with me?"

The second end that accompanied the room held a large bundle, but even in the dark, Paisley could see the shin of blonde hair that puffed out from beneath the blanket. From so many years spent together, Paris had grown accustomed to the night terrors that wracked Paisley into sleepless nights. She was able to sleep through it all now and that genuinely worried Paisley. One day, one night, destruction would hit and Paris would end up sleeping through it all. She would be unable to fight back, sleep was the greatest weakness anyone had. Without it, you could be eaten alive by your own self-destruction. But with it, it was a known fact that waking the next day was never a possibility to happen.

Her bare feet slid through a dirt covered ground, grams of sand tickling between her toes. The shadow figure stepped back, allowing Paisley room to leave and followed behind her in silence. The only sound in their wake was that of a cape's hem whispering against the ground as it glided over the ground. Coming to a stop in front of the table, Paisley felt the brush of fingers against her skin, guiding her forward to keep her going. Theo floated like the shadow he resembled so uncannily and behind him, Paisley hastily hurried with the slap of her feet on the ground to follow. They left the safety of the hide away and entered into the calm of the brisk night, unsheltered from harm. The air lay still, unmoving as it was for past curfew and far too early to be anywhere near the lift of that first siren.

She shrank back, hesitant to continue forward. "The Guard's are our at this time." She whispered, her words barely audible as she didn't dare move her lips more than a couple inches to speak.

If she disturbed the night air, they were sure to get caught. There was no doubt now that Paisley and Paris had become known and a bounty on their heads. No one would hesitate to take either of them. For a Being like her, there was always the ultimate reward given: immunity for any and all. The "savior", as they would be called, would have free will the rest of their life. All for the price of another, dead or alive.

The thought of being killed, or even worse, being turned over, made Paisley felt queasy all over again. Her feet moved back once more, desperate to retreat to the sanctuary of the hideaway. There was no way she was being caught, not after all the damage she had caused, as well as those Guards deaths or injuries. She knew neither of what had happened, but had no desire to find out anytime soon. Fingers clasped tightly around her arm, halting her attempts to refuge back down underground and pulled her forward. The soles of her feet clambered to find a set path as she hurled forward, body jerking as she was set in place, finding a stance as she straightened. Her eyes rose upwards and caught the shimmering gaze of the man towering above her. He pressed a finger to his lips, signaling for silence. One wrong movement or even breath air could set the siren of the night off.
