Teddy's P.O.V

"Good news Teddy."

I look up from the computer and pause my typing, leaning back in my chair.

"You caught the murderer?" I ask, staring at Lestrade intently. He shakes his head, a small frown appearing on his face.

"Ah, no. Might need more of your time to solve it Teddy. But, there's some other good news that I think you might be happy to know."

"Do tell."

"You remember how, at the end of the year, the Yard get's together and has a little party?" Lestrade says, coming to take a seat in front of my desk. I sit up straighter, my eyes fill with curiosity.

It had been two weeks since Lestrade had told me about the end of year party. Two weeks since I last saw Irene. Ever since the encounter with her I had forgotten all about the party. She was always on my mind now days, constant questions about her swimming through my head. Where was she? What was she doing? Is she safe? When will I see her next?

Everything else had kinda slipped my mind. Although work had been quite busy at the moment and I would try very hard not to think about Irene while on crime scenes so then I could focus fully on my deductions, it hadn't really helped much. As soon as a deduction was over, a crime solved, she would pop back into my head. I wanted to talk to her. I knew that she had Sherlock's phone number and I knew that she was in contact with him but I couldn't bring myself to ask Sherlock for her number. I wouldn't know what to text her. I thought that maybe, at the moment, even though I really, really, wanted to talk to her, perhaps it was best to let her have her own space. Maybe I'd go see Molly after work and ask her for some advice.

"Teddy?"

"Hm?" I blink, looking at Lestrade. He tilts his head slightly.

"Did you hear what I said?" he asks. I ruffle my straightened hair with an apologetic smile and shrug.

"Sorry."

"I said that everyone thinks your idea of dressing up is a great one," Lestrade tells me. I have to think for about a millisecond about what he's talking about but when I remember I smile widely.

"We get to dress up for the party? Sweet!" I grin, clapping my hands together. "Betcha ten pounds that Anderson dresses up as something with a tail."

"Teddy," Lestrade says sternly, but I know that he'll take up the bet. "Now, there's no theme, just a 'dress up in whatever' kind of thing."

"Themes are cooler, but I sure it'll be fine," I nod, already thinking about what I'm going to wear. "When is it?"

"Probably the first week of December, maybe second. I'll keep you posted. Also, could you let your brother and John know?" he asks. I nod, even though I know that Sherlock won't come. He'd prefer to stay home then have to socialize with the many idiots at Scotland Yard, beside Lestrade and I.

"Yes, sir," I say, pretending to salute. He chuckles, standing and leaving me to continue writing up a report.

I decided to make use of my night by going over to Molly's. I hadn't seen her in awhile, not since getting out of hospital a few weeks back, and part of me was really missing her company. Though it was fun to hang out with John and Lestrade at the pub I did like my times with Molly to talk about things not manly. And plus, I really needed her advice.

Molly's flat is small, smaller than mine. It's got a tiny kitchen with no space for a table and hardly any room to move. Her living room had a sofa and one armchair that was currently occupied by a small cat. Her television sat in a corner of the room beside the window, books and things scattered on and around it. The fireplace a few meters away was probably bigger than the television which kinda bugged me. What was the point of having such a large fireplace when the flat is so tiny?
