Third Person P.O.V
Ever since he was a young boy Mycroft Holmes would wake up just before dawn. He was not one for sleep ins. They were a waste of time in his mind. Also, with his position in the Government (A minor one, he'll assure you) he couldn't afford to waste time. There was too much work to do that kept him busy.
So when he walked into his office early in the morning and tapped into the security cameras in London he was surprised to find his sister and John Watson at a park together.
Strange, he thought, Teddy usually doesn't wake up this early.
For a few minutes Mycroft stared at his computer screen, his face a mask as he watched Teddy and John speak to each other. His eyes narrowed as they got closer, their swings touching slightly. When they kissed Mycroft's hand clenched the mouse and he leaned back in his chair.
He didn't like this.
Mycroft had no problem with John. He thought that Doctor John Watson was a good man. He considered him to be one of Britain's finest men. All of that though had been thrown out the window when he saw the Doctor locking lips with his little sister. Only one thought was going through Mycroft's mind now.
He was going to kick John Watson's ass.
Mycroft, being the eldest, always protected his two younger siblings. Even if it meant that a five year old Sherlock would get angry at him for throwing away the rotting bird he was experimenting on (It was crawling with disease, the twelve year old Mycroft thought to himself.)
Or if it meant that a six year old Teddy would throw a tantrum at not being able to climb a tree ('The wood is rotting,' an eighteen year old Mycroft would tell her. 'You'll fall through the branches and break your neck.')
He always protected his siblings.
When Teddy ran away from home all those years ago Mycroft was in a state of panic. Their father was furious, their mother heartbroken. Sherlock was shocked but he was too stoned to pay enough attention as to what was going on. So Mycroft searched for her. His protective older brother mode was on high. He called all the people he knew, asking them to search for his sister until she was found. They never did and after a few years Mycroft had to admit defeat and face the fact that he would never see his sister again.
It wasn't until nearly a decade later that Teddy returned home. When she did Mycroft was overjoyed. He soon realized though that Teddy still wanted her own space and that she wasn't as relaxed and free like she was when she was younger. She had changed quite a lot. He soon found the reason why.
After finding out that James Moriarty had broken his sister's heart and spirit Mycroft mad a promise: Teddy would never feel that pain ever again.
He wasn't going to lock her up and say that she wasn't allowed a boyfriend. That was stupid. What he would do was fend off any men who looked at her in a way that was more friendly than usual. He would keep doing that until she decided that she wanted another go with... with love.
Mycroft wrinkled his nose in distaste. He hoped that Teddy would never decide to do that. He wouldn't know what to do if her heart was broken again. He knew what it felt like. He could only imagine how much worse it would be for Teddy seeing as she was the only normal one out of the Holmes children. That was why he hated the fact that John was making a move on her, especially when she didn't want anyone at the moment.
Mycroft watched as Teddy walked away from John, obviously shaken by what had happened. John stayed where he was, watching her leave. It wasn't until Teddy's cab drove away that Mycroft stood up and walked out of his office. His assistant looked at him with worry.
"Sir, are you alright?" she asked.
"Send a car to John Watson. I'll be waiting at the docks," Mycroft replied, keeping the venom out of his voice successfully.
"Might I ask why, sir?"
Mycroft looked at her. The woman John only knew as 'Anthea' had been working for Mycroft for a long time now, even before Teddy ran away. While some bosses might have found her question nosy, Mycroft did not. She was one of the only close friends he had, so he replied to her question with ease.
"I need to discuss his involvement with my sister."
To his surprise she shook her head.
"Sir, I don't think that's a very good idea."
Mycroft frowned at her. The brown haired lady looked at him, waiting to see if he would say anything. When he didn't she began explaining her answer.
"You can't go talk to him about Teddy, sir. You have to let your sister handle this herself. She's a grown woman, she doesn't need your help with this. Let her stand on her own two feet. And I'm sure that she would not appreciate if you began meddling with her business."
"Why is that?" Mycroft asked grimly, eyes slightly narrowed.
"Well, sir. Didn't she run away in the first place because people were meddling with her business?"
Mycroft bit the inside of his cheek in thought. Yes, it was true. But he still had to remind John that that was his sister.
"Instead of getting all 'high and mighty' with Doctor Watson, why don't you send him a subtle message telling him to leave Teddy alone? That way you're not going to annoy Teddy by taking complete control of the situation- and don't say that she won't find out, because she will- at the same time though you're reminding Doctor Watson that big brother is watching. Actually, doesn't he have a girlfriend already?" the assistant pondered, tilting her head to the side.
Mycroft smiled. Sometimes he would forget how lucky he was to have an assistant like her. Her plan saved him from potentially threatening his relationship with his sister and also saved him a trip to the docks which meant more time working on other important issues.
"You are a Godsend, my dear," Mycroft told her with a light chuckle, feeling himself calm down instantly. "Ask John Watson how his girlfriend is. That's subtle enough, isn't it?"
"Very subtle, sir," she replied with a little laugh, pulling out her phone. Mycroft nodded and walked back into his office.
Well, now that's taken care of, he thought as he sat down in his chair. Before he could start looking through his plans for the day his assistant opened his office door, peeking into the room.
"Sir, the Prime Minister needs your help again. He says it's urgent."
"Send him in," Mycroft replied.
Back to saving Britain.
Author note: Guys, I am so so so sorry for how long it's been since I last updated! Writer's block is the WORST!!!!!! This chapter isn't very long but I thought it was better than nothing and I felt like having a little Mycroft in this chapter. And 'Anthea.' I like writing about Mycroft :)
I've got my practice exams this week (Someone save me) so there probably won't be another chapter until the week after or so. I'm trying to get back into my 'chapter update every week or two' routine so I hope you guys don't mind waiting a little while. Sorry about all the waiting.
Comment and fave if you like this story! Thanks!
