Asher was always as impatient as anyone could get. It was not in his character to think out his plans nor strategise. His actions spoke the loudest or perhaps, it was his flair for always being a schemer that he didn't need to think about his plans. Grabbing his helmet of the table, he headed for the location, hearing Logan shout out, " I will send it to your helmet screen."
The ride was shorter than Asher expected, he could see the cabin Logan was talking about in a matter of minutes. As he got closer, Asher was nervous. He didn't know why - maybe it was because he didn't know what to say to her once he saw her, what excuse would he use for meeting her again or what her reaction would be. There was a thousand things flying through his head as he took his helmet off and began to walk.
And he knocked. Despite all the warning and scenarios playing out in his head, his hands just moved on their own accord. Pretty much like all the other times where because of his lack of mind and hand coordination, fights broke out.
However, there was no response. He knocked again. Again, he was met with silence. Getting impatient, Asher raised his fist in the air ready to break the door. He was only inches from hitting it that the door opened and his eyes met with Juliet's. She had a vase raised above her head ready to attack him.
If anyone had seen them, it would have been a comical shot. Dare say, if Logan had seen him, he probably would have printed it as the front cover of all the major magazines. Realising his current predicament, Asher dropped his fist to his side and gave her an embarrassed smile.
"Um... this is not what it looks like," he blurted out. Juliet's gaze just hardened.
"Rig..ht... you can put the um.. vase down.." he continued, not knowing how to handle the situation.
He didn't think her gaze could get any colder but it did. " And why should I listen to a stranger who had his fist ready to attack my door, I presume?"
"Ok..ay. You can keep it there. But I don't think it's very comfortable." That came out not as he imagined. Asher could feel the awkward tension rising.
" Your point." She replied.
" Who the hell are you? And what are you doing here?"her voice faltered a bit towards the end.
Asher could see that she was scared because her whole form was shivering, but he wasn't going to tell her that. She wanted to project her confidence and hide her fear, and he would gladly let her believe she was if it meant she would be willing to communicate with him.
"Relax, I am here to help you. I mean no harm." Asher said, raising his hands as if he were surrendering.
"I don't need any help. Now leave." Juliet replied, shutting the door.
She would have succeeded if not for Asher putting his foot it in the middle. Juliet's mind went on high alert. She could feel herself panic. Without thinking, she swung the vase towards him, but he was too quick. He dodged it and held her arms across her chest, locking her in his arms. She could feel the heat radiating from him.
She could feel his breath lightly hitting her ear. It gave her a sort of comfort that she didn't understand. She knew he was the boy who had helped her in the parking lot. His eyes had been the reason why she had recognised him in the first instant.
" I. Am. Not. Going. To. Hurt. You." He said slowly as if he were trying to control his anger.
She would have continued to fight him if it weren't for the next words that came out of his mouth. "Please just trust me." She could feel the plead underlining those words and she gave up. She didn't know why, but something compelled her to.
Asher could feel Juliet relax and he eased his hold on her. He wasn't sure if she was going to attack him or not. Seeing her slumped shoulders, he let her go.
"Thank you," came out of his mouth. She turned to look at him.
He knew the question she was going to ask, and he didn't know if she would appreciate the answer she got from him.
"How did you find me?"
