The rest of the day went by in a breeze. But Lauren's mind remained somewhere else- or with someone.

Camila.

She didn't understand why she found the brown eyed girl so alluring. Whatever it was, Lauren just decided to leave it. She didn't know what was going on and she didn't care to find out. She doesn't need this right now.

As soon as the final bell of the day rang, Lauren was out of there quick. Squinting her eyes, she spotted a small figure leaning on the hood of her car. As she got closer she saw it was...Camila?

"Camila? What are you-"

"I need a ride," she cut Lauren off, who furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Lauren opened her mouth to speak but Camila cut her off again, "Please, just- just don't ask any questions. I just need you to take me home," her eyes widened in fear when she noticed something just past Lauren's head. "Now," she said, almost in a panic.

Not even giving the green eyed girl a chance to respond, Camila hopped in the back seat of the car. Lauren just shook her head and made her way over to the driver's seat. Once she got in the car, there was just silence. She glanced back at Camila, who was nervously bouncing her knee.

"You don't wanna sit in the front seat?" Lauren said, trying to keep her cool even though this was an odd situation and she knew that. Camila just shook her head quickly.

Lauren nodded slowly, turning back around in her seat to start her car. As soon as the car started up, Lauren just sat there again, looking at Camila expectantly.

"Well are you gonna drive or not?" Camila spoke up with immediacy. Lauren just took a deep breath and tried to remain cool and not press the girl for any information.

"I can't drive you home without an address," Lauren said.

"Right," Camila said. "7246 Rosebrook Lane."

Lauren nodded and started driving. The drive was short and quiet, as Lauren expected. She didn't hound Camila with questions but that didn't mean she wasn't curious. The girl has been on ten different mood levels today. But she figured it was none of her business anyways.

"Stop here!" Camila shouted, causing Lauren to slam on the breaks.

"Camila, we're not even there y-" Lauren turned around only to be met with the car door slamming shut. She turned her head to look in the rearview mirror, seeing Camila running already halfway up the street.

"What the hell?" Lauren said to herself. Shaking her head in disbelief, she drove off.

She just turned the corner past Camila's street when her phone buzzed. Not taking her hands off the wheel, she glanced over to her phone to see a text from Ally.

Ally: Dinah and Normani said that they're down to meet up tonight! YAY! I haven't heard from Camila all day though :(

Lauren pulled over to send a text back to Ally.

Lauren: I was just with her, actually haha

Ally: ????

Lauren: it was weird...she wanted a ride home but she seemed...shady... I dunno :/

Ally: well is she coming tonight?

Lauren: I have no idea. we didn't really get much conversation in..

Ally: hmmm, okay. are you coming? :)

Lauren: lol yes. what time?

Ally: 7ish???

Lauren: alrighty, i'll be there :)

Ally: YAAAAAAAAASSS :)))))))) i'll bake cookies for yall ;)

Lauren: hahhaha see ya later, Ally.

Still chuckling at Ally's sunshiney-ness, Lauren locked her phone and tossed it in the passenger's seat.

Lauren sighed as she drove past the school since her house was in the opposite direction from Camila's. She turned up the radio and placed her hands on the steering wheel, tapping to the beat as she softly sang along with the song playing.

Going back to the corner where I first saw you,

Gonna camp in my sleeping bag I'm not gonna move,

Got some words on cardboard got your picture in my hand,

Saying if you see this girl can you tell her where I am,

Some try to hand me money they don't understand,

I'm not, broke I'm just a broken hearted man,

I know it makes no sense, but what else can I do,

How can I move on when I'm still in love with you

'Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me,

And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be,

Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet,

And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street.

So I'm not moving

I'm not moving

Just as the song was ending, Lauren pulled up at her house. Grabbing her backpack, she quickly jumped out of the car and sprinted toward her house. Immediately after opening the door and throwing her backpack on the ground, she walked into the kitchen.

"I'm hooome!" she yelled. Silence. Walking over to the fridge, she grabbed the orange juice carton and took a sip. "Hello?!" she yelled a little louder this time. No response. She groaned and made her way back into the living room. "Mom? Dad?" she tried again. This time she heard footsteps making their way to the stairs.

"Lauren Michelle, how many times have we told you not to yell for us through the house? I was on an important business call," her dad said coldly, making his way down the stairs with his eyes glued to his phone.

"Yeah, yeah," she rolled her eyes. "Where's mom?"

"Oh, your mother has to stay late at work." he said plainly, making his way into the kitchen.

"I'm going to a friend's house tonight," she yelled from the living room. "Just so you know." When there was no response, she rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen. "Dad did you hear wh-" she was cut off by her father putting his hand up to signal her to be quiet. He put his phone to his ear.

"What was that, Dave?"

"Yeah..."

"Mhm..."

"Sure, sure. We'll meet tomorrow morning..."

Lauren rolled her eyes and walked upstairs to her bedroom. Knowing her dad, he takes forever on his 'business calls' which is pretty much just him trying to impress anyone with money and nice shoes.

She fell back on her bed and started scrolling through Tumblr on her phone. She paused her scrolling to check her horoscope. She knows this stuff is bullshit but she finds it entertaining to read.

You have a new adventure waiting for you...

Chuckling, she tossed her phone across her bed. Glancing at the clock, she saw it was 5:30pm. That gave her just enough time to start her book for English. Pride and Prejudice.
