Hey...so I'm not good at goodbyes. I'm not even sure how you start one.

Ya know, the world works in such a funny way. One minute you meet someone, next minute you lose them. Just like that, they're gone. They're gone and all you wanna do is trace all the way back to the first time.

The first time you looked into their eyes.

The first time you heard their voice.

You wanna go back and find out where things went wrong. You wanna go back and fix everything to make the bad stuff go away. But then you realize... if anything were any different, you wouldn't be the person you are today. You wouldn't know the things you know or see things the way you do. You would be someone else.

I still remember when I first met you...I could never forget...

The chilly October air hit Lauren as soon as she stepped foot out of her car. She shivered, quickly grabbing her leather jacket from the back seat and jogging into the school building.

Entering the school, she took a look around and sighed- realizing that today was the first day of the second term of senior year. The first day of a new term was always difficult for Lauren because it meant different classes with different people and a majority of the time it was with people she could barely tolerate.

Just as she approached her locker, one of the teachers, Mr. Cooper, walked up to her with a big grin on his face.

"Good morning, Miss Jauregui," he took a sip of his coffee. "I saw that you're on the list for my film class second hour!"

Lauren internally groaned. One, she wasn't feeling school today in the first place. Two, the only reason she signed up for film was because it was either that or sewing class and Lauren knew that the latter would only end in pricked fingers and bloody fabric. But she faked a smile anyways.

"Oh, yeah...yeah, I'm super excited," she tried her best to sound convincing.

"It's gonna be a good time," the first bell rang, which meant it was time to get to class. "Alright, well I'll see you in class today," he flashed her a quick smile then walked away. Lauren nodded, pulled some books out of her locker and began walking to her first hour.

By now, all the other students have descended to their classrooms. All except one girl who stood by her locker. She looked like she was struggling with something. There was a lot of grunting and groaning. Now, Lauren could do one of two things: see if the girl needs help with something, or just keep walking so that she doesn't have to socialize any more than she already has today.

Being the kind, although drained, person she is, Lauren decided to walk over and ask the girl if she needed help. Getting closer, she stifled a laugh as she saw that the girl had gotten her sweater sleeve stuck in her locker. She also noticed that this girl had the most beautiful, long, flowing brown hair she'd ever seen. It cascaded all the way down her back with smooth waves.

Wow. This girl was stunning.

Snapping out of her trance, Lauren quickly composed herself and approached the girl struggling to pull her sleeve out of the locker.

"Hi...um, do you- do you need some help uh..." she glanced down at the name written on the girl's notebook, "Camila?" she asked.

The girl turned to her with an embarrassed look on her face. She slowly nodded and it was then that Lauren was able to see her eyes that were such a deep brown. She was automatically jealous of anyone with such beautiful brown eyes because she'd always wished she was born with them.

  "Please," the girl chuckled awkwardly.

"Have you tried, uh...have you tried unlocking your locker and then pulling out your sleeve?" Lauren laughed as Camila slapped her palm to her forehead.

"That would save me a lot of time, wouldn't it?" she laughed and put in her locker combination. "You're a lifesaving-genius-wizard-genie-girl," she said, pulling her sleeve out and closing her locker. Lauren shot her a questioning look and they both just awkwardly laughed it off and began walking in the same direction.

"Well, looks like we're both gonna be late to the first day of classes now, huh?" Lauren feigned annoyance. Camila quickly shot her head up and looked at Lauren with a sorry look. "Relax, kid. I'm just kidding. I'd much rather be out here than in there," she motioned to the chemistry classroom down the hall.

"You're insane. Chemistry is so much fun. I took it last year and Mr. Torski is great. Plus, I'd rather be going to chemistry than AP Euro," she pointed to the classroom she was approaching. "But at least I get to go to film second hour." She opened the classroom door and was immediately greeted by her teacher.

"Ah, Camila. So nice of you to join us."

'HELP ME' Camila mouthed dramatically to Lauren as she slipped in the room and shut the door behind her. Lauren just laughed and walked to her chemistry classroom.

She managed to easily slip in the room and take her seat in the back, thanking the universe that no one was sitting there already. Unfortunately, she was stuck sitting next to the know-it-all smart chick, Gabbie, and some kid who smelled like rotting cheese and mayonnaise. She rested her head on her desk and sighed. This was gonna be a long day.
