New Kid At School

It was a cold morning. Which gave you a good reason to keep your hat on. You always wore it...for obvious reasons. But schools didn't always like that. Anyways, you were starting a new school today. With your ears covered by your hat and your tail wrapped around your stomach under your shirt, the day should go well.
You walk up to the front door. As you go inside you pull out your schedule. You had already toured the school that past Friday. It was a pretty nice place. It was about five minutes till the bell. You dash to your locker, fast but not to fast as to show anything. You make it there and grab your books.
Closing your locker you start to head down the hallway and bump into someone. You fall over dropping all of your books.
"Crap. I'm sorry." The guy says. It was a boy about the same age as you with orange hair. Odd but not as much as you being part cat. Speaking of that that, this guy smelled like cat fur. And you knew that smell anywhere. You forget it and get up.
"Here you go, I've gotta get to class." He hands you your things and runs down the hallway. Based on your tour, your classroom was the same way he had ran. You walk that way hoping you were right about that.

You make it to the classroom right before the bell. You take a seat at the back of the class. But as you sit down you notice to boy from earlier sitting in the row next to you. Well that was just great. You sigh and lay your head down on the desk. The teacher calls the roll. "We have a new student today everyone. Ms (l/n), would you please come up front and tell us about yourself."
You pick your head up. "Do I have to?" The teacher doesn't appreciate your response. But you can see the guy smirking next to you. "Yes you have to." You sigh and walk up front.
"Hi my name is (f/n) (l/n) and i am an introvert, that doesn't like school but ironically is good at it, and I also am very athletic." You say that then go and sit back down. "Thank you for that."
You lay your head back down on the desk ignoring the teacher and her voice droning on. It was too boring to listen to. You make sure your hat is staying on completely. Especially considering your cat ears were twitching. Something was setting them off. Maybe it was that guy who had bumped into you earlier. He seemed familiar.
You block out the whole class. You knew almost everything you needed to anyways. Plus interactive was a whole lot more fun of a way to learn. Finally the bell rings. You had gym next. Thankfully.
You stuff your thing into your locker. You see the guy at some other guys locker. You can hear their conversation.
"You're just imagining things Kyo." The other guy says.
"I'm not kidding. Something is off about that new girl Yuki. I don't know what it is but I can sense something." Yuki shakes his head.
"Believe whatever you want to Kyo. I need proof. Besides, if she was part of the family we would know." They don't know you can hear them. You stop eavesdropping and head to the gym. Even though your ears were covered up, you still had extreme hearing. You sit down on the gym floor waiting for class to start when Kyo walks in.
When he sees you he stops for a second and you can feel your ears twitching under your hat. You pull down your hat a little bit more and look away. He might think there was something off with you but there was something off about him too.
You go through gym class with energy, but you don't think you've given yourself away to anybody. But that Kyo guy is still looking at you weird. You can't ignore it no matter how much you try.
When class is over you walk up to him. "What is your problem! Why do you keep looking at me? I heard you talking earlier." He seems surprised. "This might sound weird, but can you meet me after school at the park. I wanna ask you something."
"Why can't you ask me now?" He shakes his head.
"To many people. 4:00. Don't be late." Then he walks away. You stand there as the bell rings. You walk into the next class late and head to the back unnoticed. You sit there pondering if you should meet him or not. You didn't even know him but you had a question for him too. Might as well meet with him. I couldn't hurt anything.

The bell finally rings. 3:30. Might as well go ahead and head to the park and be there early. You walk out of the school building and towards the closest park. You sit on the bench nearest to the woods trail. After a few more minutes you see Kyo walking your way. When he makes it over to you he sits down. "Why don't we go for a walk?" You give him a questioning look. "I'm not a murderer. I won't do anything." You're still suspicious but you get up and follow him into the woods.
"I mean this in the nicest way possible, there is something different about you. I'm gonna sound crazy if I say this but, you smell funny." That doesn't surprise you.
"So do you. You smell like cat fur." At that he freezes and stops walking. "What!?!? Are you sure about that? Cause that's exactly what you smell like." You have a feeling it wouldn't surprise him a lot to know about your secret.
"Of course I do. I just can't figure out why you do." He just stares at you dumbfounded. Your ears start to twitch again. "There it was. Again. Your hat." Now its your turn to freeze.
"What?"
"Every once in a while your hat will move. Like you have something under it. Is that why you wore it all day today?" You look down at the ground. You take a step back, about to go back the way you came from when he lunges at you and knocks you to the ground.
You hiss at him without thinking. He pins your hands above your head and takes off your hat. His eyes widen. He drops the hat. "What are you?" He asks. Your nails had gotten longer. You rake them across his face. He lets you go and you get up. Just in enough time for him to grab your hat.
"Can't go anywhere without this can you." You hiss and your ears flatten against your head. You grab for it but he holds it out of your reach. By now your tail has come unraveled and his hanging out from underneath your skirt.
"Tell me what you are." You calm down a little. Your tail flicks around you. "Tell me what you are." You say. It comes out a little warbled because of your elongated canines.
"Tell me what you are first."
"I'm a Neko. Part cat. Now give me my hat." He throws it to you. "Now what are you?"
"A cat. Hug me and I turn into one. But I don't know how that would work since you're part cat too." Just to test it out you dart around the back of him and hug him from behind. Nothing happens.
"I'm guessing that's a no then." He says. You let go of him.
"Okay then I'll see you at school! Bye!" You say. You've just turned around when he calls for you.
"Wait! This might be weird, but can you come over to my house with me tonight?"
"Are you asking me on a date Kyo?"
"No! No! Of course not! Why would you think that? Just come with me would you?" You can see him blushing. It was kinda cute.
"Sure." He nods his head and you follow him off the trail.
