It is a beautiful morning. Something about this day seemed very promising. It is warmer then the previous days and the rain has dried up. In addition to the good weather, you are going out with Vincent to the lake. You remember all the times you yourself have went and how it seemed to get your mind off things. So, to help him out a bit, you invited him.
You force yourself out of the coziness of your bed and immediately prepare for today's adventure. Before jumping into things you stop and consider what all you'll need. The first items that came to your mind was a quilt and a picnic basket. You pack a small lunch box with sandwiches, waters, and got out your rather large quilt. You put these items into your car and grab your binoculars so you get closer looks at things when you get there.
By the time you put some comfortable clothes on and tidied up yourself, it was around the time you needed to head out. Getting to his house was easy since you've already driven there before. After driving a bit, you pull into his driveway. You got out and knocked on his door. You could hear some shuffling and then something fall. As you raised your eyebrow, the door opened.
"Y/n!", he said dusting himself off, "glad you made it!"
You began to chuckle a bit because you were almost positive that he was the something that fell. He began to smile nervously.
"Are you ready, Vince?"
"Yes! Let me grab my camera!", he said slipping back inside.
You smiled. His eagerness is rather adorable. You could tell he is just as excited as you. Vincent soon came out again with his camera at hand and locked the door behind him.
"Let's roll!", you said smiling at him, walking with him to your car. Vincent grins and follows. You both get into your car and begin to drive. On the way, Vincent reaches forward and turns on the radio and listens for a bit.
"Oh, I enjoy this song," Vincent said tapping along with it.
"Never heard it before," you said giggling as you saw that he began to dance a bit in his seat.
The song had a Spanish feel to it. He began to pretend as if he was playing a guitar and began to sing along with it. You couldn't help but chuckle at him. He isn't that bad at singing! As the song came to an end, you begin to get closer to your final destination. You take a turn and you both see a pier laying upon the glistening water. Pulling up, you can see the excitement in Vincent's eyes. You both got out and before you went any further, you get the food and quilt.
Then, when you look to see where Vincent is, you see him on the pier. He is standing adjacent to the distant, far off city. He is peering out at the vast lake as the gentleness of the wind is brushing through his dark hair. He contrasted with his light surroundings. You called out to him as you walk closer.
"Vincent, what do you think?"
He turned his head around, still keeping most of himself facing the water. You noticed how his crystal like eyes caught the light. It was rather beautiful.
"It's amazing", he responded grinning a bit.
You were almost frozen. He is really a gorgeous man, you thought to yourself. After a few seconds, he faces the water again. You stood there, hearing nothing but the wind and the water.
You spread out the quilt and you both sat with your legs over the edge of the pier. You both sat there for what seemed minutes taking in the sights from ongoing boats to the flocks of birds disappearing farther out of sight.
"Y/n, have you ever wished you could fly", Vincent said with his view still fixed on the sky.
"Yes, it must be amazing", you said in response.
Vincent then looked to you. He had a slight grin. He watched you as you where admiring the view. He thought it was a stunning sight, you facing the light with the shore to the right of you. In addition, he pulled out his camera to capture the moment.
"Taking photos?", you say turning to him again.
"Of course", he smiles back.
"Here", you reach for his camera, "want to take a picture?"
"Ahaha, I am not camera worthy don't you think?", he says looking at himself.
"Bah! You look fine!"
You turn the camera around and you both scoot closer together. There is a bit of contact between the two of you. He readjusts his clothing a bit then looks up at the lens. You both smile and then the picture is taken. Looking at it, you notice how perfect it looks. You gave it back to him.
"Vincent, this is just the beginning. Just wait until we walk up the shore and get to the coves", you say.
"Oh really?"
"My favorite spot to go to is the cove behind the park. I used to go there on my night walks."
You both get up. Vincent voluntarily puts the quilt over his shoulder while you carry the picnic basket. Leading the way, you both begin your rather short journey along the shore. Vincent almost had a hard time keeping up with  you since he isn't used to doing all this walking. You would occasionally stop so he could catch up.
"Out of shape?", you said teasingly.
"Shut up", he said embarrassed.
You look back again to see him smiling. You knew he is up to something. Not thinking much of it you turn back around and proceed with leading the way. Suddenly, Vincent bolts past you. This is a challenge!
"Hey!", you run as fast as you can after him.
He looks back at you while running and smirks. You shake your head and smile, catching up on him. You were almost arm length away from him but you couldn't seem to get any faster.
"Alright! Alright!", you say giving up.
"Tired already?", he says recollecting his breathe.
"You might-", you stagger while trying to catch your breath, "-have to carry me the rest of the way."
You were just teasing but Vincent began to approach you.
"Fair enough", he says picking you up.
You are blushing tremendously. You didn't expect him to take that literally but some part of you was enjoying every second of it. You could sense he knew by the way he was looking at you but the journey continued. You point the way and soon enough you both start to come across the picnic tables that surround the outskirts of the park that are located closer to the shore.
"Keep going straight and we will be there", you say looking down at him.
"Alright!"
He set you down and you begin to lead the way again. He follows you as you cross a small bridge that goes over a small stream that empties into the lake. Following the path, you make it to the cove. It is beautiful, especially on a day like this.
"Wow, I see why you visit here now", Vincent says in awe.
The cove has a single weeping willow tree that is located along the shore. It was planted there by the park owners. The water is almost like a mirror, reflecting the scenery around it. You turn around to see Vincent observing the area and its subtle but amazing detail. You are happy that he was enjoying this trip so far.
You take the quilt from Vincent and lay it on a bed of grass under the weeping willow. You both sit again and relax. Everything is perfect.
"Thank you for this, y/n", he says laying back, "it's definitely been an escape."
You, laying back as well, smile.
"Hey, I'm glad you are happy", you respond.
The day went on rather fast and so didn't your breakfast. You felt hungry so you knew it was time to crack open that picnic basket. You both have been talking for what seemed forever, but you didn't mind. You got out the two sandwiches and gave one to Vincent. You both ate and continue your casual conversation.
After eating, you both explore along the shore. You both see rather amazing sights. After a few hours of exploration around the lake you notice that the sun is almost in union with the horizon. You decided that it is time to head back. You both keep an eye on the sunset waiting for its burst of color. Within minutes, the sun is a bright color of orange and it is surrounded with bright vivid color. The colors stain the surface of the water.
"It's so breathtaking, y/n", Vincent says pulling out his camera.
"It truly is", you say in awe.
The walk back seemed shorter then the walk up, mostly because you both stopped so much to view the area. You both pass the picnic table and approach the pier once more. You slipped the quilt and basket into your car. You both make one last look at the lake and get in your car. You both talked all the way back about the things you saw and enjoyed. Vincent almost seemed to be melancholy when you pulled into his driveway. You went onto Vincent's porch.
"Thank you for today, y/n" , he said smiling, "I had so much fun!"
"I am glad to hear!", you respond.
Before Vincent slips into his house, he looks at you one last time and smiles. You look up at him as well. Before you knew it, he plants a kiss on your cheek. You didn't see this coming and from the looks on his face, neither did he! You both began blushing tremendously.
"U-Uh.. Yea! Thanks once again, y/n, I'll catch you later!", he said nervously, still blushing, and slipped into his house. You smile.
"Till next time, Vincent", you whisper to yourself, smiling.
All moments of today keep circulating through your thoughts, but Vincent's kiss is what stood out the most. You smiled all the way home.

"Thank you for this, y/n. This has definitely been an escape."
