Chapter 7~ Jealously

    The evening is young with the sun barely resting on the horizon. Lively music and laughter fill the air. There is fancy decor and snazzy people. Couples are dancing and some sitting for conversation but there you are, alone. You are wearing an elegant dress and your hair is perfectly done. You are waiting, meaninglessly stirring your drink. But before you could let out another sigh, a familiar tall figure catches your eye. He is wearing a black tuxedo, had his hair well groomed, and is wearing a flashy purple tie. He has a warm smile and his crystal like eyes meet yours.
"It's about time you made it!", you say excitedly to him as you get up.
    He doesn't say anything. He grins as he pulls you against him with one hand on your back and one out in posture for dancing. He led you both in the dance, working your way to the center of the the floor. Mysteriously everyone else has disappeared but the music stayed. You both dance together looking into each other's eyes but he suddenly stops. You both are standing in the center of the elegant room. He grins and chuckles sexily as he looks at you.
"Y/n, I love you."
    He begins to lean in closer. The gap between his and your lips begins to get smaller and smaller but before you both kiss, you hear a phone ringing.
Everything fades away rather quickly before further action.
Your eyes open. You look around confused but soon snap back to reality. There you are laying in bed with the hugest frown upon your face. All the elegance disappeared and so didn't that charming security guard.
"No! It was a dream?", you moan to yourself in disappointment.
    You rub your eyes and grab your phone that is still ringing and answer it. You are greeted by the voice of your friend, Kaydence. You two have been friends for many years. She has always been there for you like she was family. In fact, you consider her as family.
"Y/n, how are you? I haven't heard from you in a while!", you could hear the concern in her voice.
You, still in sleep mode, mumble back, "I was having the best dream ever, Kay."
"Oh! I didn't realize you were still asleep. I figured you would have been up by now", she said giggling, "but why haven't you called me?"
    You feel very guilty but you've been busy recently with Vincent. You look up at your ceiling and think about where to begin but it's simply too much to explain but you know you have to tell her.
"Kay, we have a lot of catching up to do. I'd rather meet up with you to explain", you announce stumbling out of bed.
"Well today I am going to take my daughter out to eat. You can tag along, ya know", Kaydence responded.
"Sounds like fun", you say.
"Be there to get you in a few!", she chirps and hangs up.
     You begin your day and get dressed, but nothing too fancy. Additionally, as you get ready you contemplate on all the things you are going to tell her about. You clean yourself up so you don't look too disheveled and before you knew it there is a knock at the door. It has to be her. You open the door to see Kaydence smiling. You can tell she is happy to see you.
"Ready, sleeping beauty?", she laughs.
"Yes, I am ready!"
     You open the passenger side of the car and slip in. Her car is always nice and clean and in the back you see her daughter, sound asleep. She looks just like Kay, blue eyes with thick brown hair. Kaydence then slips into her car and begins pulling out. She begins talking a mile a minute but you are used to her high energy. On the way, you both begin having casual conversations about normal things such as work. You both enter town and you shift your focus to the window since you love looking at the town and all its inhabitants from stores, pedestrians, to town decorations. Your relaxed face came to a cease when something caught your eye. You noticed the formal clothing store's window display of dresses and suits. One particular mannequin stood out to you. It had a black tuxedo and a purple tie, all too similar to what you dreamt last night.
     Why does this keep happening, you think to yourself. Before alarming her you quickly resume to your conversation.
"Hope you like pizza, y/n, but then again who doesn't?", Kaydence asks while pulling into a pizzeria.
     You almost look shocked. This is the pizzeria where Vincent works. You just begin to chuckle to yourself because it seems like you just can't get away from him but then again, who says you want to? He wouldn't be here though, he works night shifts.
"Wow, you look more excited to be here at the kids restaurant then the actual kid", she said looking at you then turns to the back of the car, "wake up, kiddo!"
     Kaydence gets her little girl out and you all walk to the entrance. You can already hear music and people, particularly children, inside. When you both enter you are greeted by a worker. Kaydence purchases tokens for her daughter to play the games and then a waitress takes you to your table. Additionally, she orders pizza.
"Now now, kiddo go play while the food is being made", Kaydence tell her daughter.
She excitedly runs with her pocket full of tokens. When you look back, Kay is looking straight at you. You knew it was time to begin talking. You sigh, get comfortable, and begin explaining the incident that happened the night you were out on your last walk. You informed her about the mysterious man who shot you and how you woke up the next day in the hospital. Kay had a look of astonishment. She couldn't believe what she was hearing!
"Holy crap, y/n! When did this happen?", she says rather loudly.
"A few weeks ago", you say quietly, "but there is more."
"More? What else? Did you get abducted by aliens too?"
You smile faintly at her sarcasm and shake your head. Looking up again, you tell her about Vincent and how he rescued you and about the days you spent getting to know each other. Moreover, you explain that he works here as a security guard. You didn't know this, but you were blushing just talking about him. Kay could see this and grinned a bit.
"Is he here right now?", she said looking around, "what does he look like?"
"He works night shifts, so nope, and he is tall and slender, has dark hair, has the most beautiful eyes, and he is usually in purple", you inform.
"You mean that guy", Kay says and points.
"What?", you immediately turn around.
You looked around for a few seconds not seeing anything but then before you could turn back around you see the one and only, Vincent. You gasp and quickly turn around blushing. He is working today? Kay definitely caught on and she had a huge grin on her face.
"Does someone have a crush on the security guard?", she says teasingly.
"W-What?", you blush even more.
"Oh my! Look at you", she giggles.
Vincent begins walking around making sure the kids aren't tearing up anything or each other. He begins to get closer and you know if you don't do something, Kaydence will. You get up and begin to head for the bathroom.
"I'll be back", you say still blushing.
You barely make it to the doors when you hear an unfamiliar voice. You don't recognize it.
"Uh, Ma'am... Are you alright?", the voice is stern.
You turn around to see another security guard. He doesn't seem very happy to be here. You look at his badge and it reads "Mike". You nervously respond to the intimidating man.
"Oh, I am fine. I was just heading to the bathroom, s-sir!", you say looking down.
     Mike raises an eyebrow as he looks at you, obviously still red to the face. He begins to chuckle a bit as he rubs his chin. Peaking up, you see a grin spread across his face.
"Say, have I seen you before?", he says getting closer.
"I don't think so", you respond looking over to your table. Kaydence has a concerned look.
     Mike chuckles and looks at you, still grinning. His amused expression confuses you. What is he smiling about? Suddenly, he leans forward and whispers into your ear.
"Has anyone ever told you that you are a fine lady?", he asks lowly.
     You back up and blush. This man is flirting with you? You look to Kaydence for help but you notice she is vigorously pointing behind her. You look past her to see what she might be gesturing to. You nearly jump when you see Vincent making his way over toward you and Mike. His expression is more intimidating then Mike as a whole! Mike doesn't notice him and continues flirting with you.
"Say, are you single?", he asks getting closer.
"I...uh-", you hesitate.
     Vincent soon works his way over and steps in front of you both. His focus is fixed on Mike whom is obviously too close to you. Vincent knows what he is doing because he simply does it all the time. Mike is confused. He usually doesn't get angry about this.
"Mike, what do you think you are doing", he says looking him in the eye.
"Jeez, Vince! Why do you look like you are about to murder me?", Mike returns.
     Vincent glances over to your worried face and his expression softens up. You could tell he is embarrassed. Mike also looks at you and back to Vincent with a sudden realization.
"Oh! This is her?", Mike mouthed to Vincent so you couldn't hear him. All Vincent did was look at him with a blank expression. Moreover, Mike soon gets a bigger grin then before.
"Say, that's a nice outfit, miss", Mike smirks and whispers shaking his, "you'd probably look better without it on."
     Your jaw drops. How could he say something like that? You don't have words but you can tell Vincent has plenty with the death stare he is giving him. Mike soon looks at him and laughs. You just stand there awkwardly watching the two security guards bicker.
"Chill out dude, it's not like I'm going to steal her from you!", Mike soon backs off, laughing, seeing that Vincent is clearly not amused. He watches him leave then turns to you again, holding his forehead, embarrassed. This really had you thinking. Vincent must have been talking about you recently for Mike to have said something like that.
"Y/n, I am so sorry", he says softly.
"Does he do that often?", you respond and Vincent nods his head yes.
"That's Mike for you", he says looking back again at Mike,"It's a surprise to see you here though, y/n."
"Same goes with you. You work day shifts now?"
"Sadly", he says under his breathe, "I'm on day shift for a while."
Kaydence finally gets up and comes over. She has a peculiar smile on her face. Vincent quits looking at you and glances at the brunette questionably. Likewise, you look at her as well.
"Vincent, this is my friend, Kaydence", you tell him.
"Ah, pleasure to meet you", he tips his hat to her.
"Yea! You too", she responds, "so you are the man who saved my little y/n?"
Vincent smiles and looks at you, "You can put it that way, yes."
She begins looking back and forth at you both, tapping her chin. You can tell she is being observant which gives you an uneasy feeling for some odd reason.
"You two would make a cute couple", he suddenly says, "it's obvious you both have feelings for each other anyways."
The blush gets even worse! Just when you thought this little situation was at its peak, Kaydence came along. You immediately give her a look of shock then nervously look to Vincent. He quickly shifted his focus to you. The soft look in his eyes suddenly reminds you of your dream.
"Y-Y/n-", he begins to speak but gets cut off when a hand grabs his shoulder.
"Vincent, I'm on break, cover for me", Mike says to him. Vincent frowns and rubs the back of his neck, "I better go, y/n."
Just like your dream, the charming security guard disappears. You began to wonder how he was going to respond to Kaydence's bold statement before Mike came back. You felt drained.
"Come on, y/n, before the food gets cold."
".....ok"
Returning to your table, she can tell you are worried. At first there is silence as you all eat but then Kaydence spoke.
"He likes you, anyone could tell that", she says. Looking up at her, you faintly smile a bit.
"There we go, there's my y/n," she says trying to cheer you up.

After your food was ate and Kaydence put the leftovers in a to go box you both head for the exit. Your rather honest friend carrying her daughter went ahead of you. Before you touch the door handle, a hand lightly touches you. You turn around to see Vincent. The smile on his face made you smile in return.
"Y/n, I apologize for getting jealous. I guess you can say Kaydence isn't wrong about what she about us", he says quietly as his eyes meet yours, "I'll see you again."
A feeling of shock, a positive one, overcomes you. Words couldn't seem to escape you. Kaydence never lies does she? Vincent winks and tips his hat as he walks away smiling. The smile on your face says it all.

It's official!

You two are without a doubt, in love!
