"I guess you can say Kaydence isn't entirely wrong about us."
Your blush is brighter then it was before! Words can't seem to describe how you feel! What he admitted keeps replaying in your head. Vincent's feelings match yours, a feeling that go beyond friendship. The huge smile remains on your face as you get in the car with Kaydence. She pulls out of the pizzeria parking lot and gets on the road again.
"Why are you smiling so much, y/n?", She asks grinning.
"Kay! Vincent got my attention when we were leaving and he told me something!", you exclaim.
"Well, don't leave me hanging! Spill!"
You explain it all in detail from the point Vincent grabbed your shoulder to the point that he admitted that Kaydence was not wrong about you and Vincent having feelings for each other. Moreover, you describe the gentleness in his voice and the way he looked you in the eye meaningfully as he said each word. It's all so much to take in simply because you have not felt this way in such a long time! Kaydence, proud of her doing, smiles.
"You are welcome, hon!", she says smiling at you,"when will you two become a thing?"
"I guess we haven't got that far...yet", you tell her.
The ride home was all about the possibilities that can become of you two. Excitement is a prominent feeling but so isn't your worry. What if it doesn't work out? What if he just isn't the one for you? You really consider these questions but deep down, you have a feeling of hope. Before too long, Kaydence reaches your home. She can obviously see your worry.
"Y/n, everything will turn out for you", she says softly as she places a hand on your shoulder.
"Thank you for taking me out today, Kay", you respond in the same manor and get out,"I'll call you later."
You slowly trudge to your front door as you hear the her car drive away. Additionally, silence followed. You unlock your door and step inside taking notice to everything. It's all still in place as it should be. A smile grows on your face as you skip to your back porch. Sliding open the glass door you are greeted by the freshness of the outdoors. This is usually where you go to relax and think.
Sitting down into your chair you gaze out. The woods behind your house, still green from the ongoing spring, is pleasing to look at. The wind creates a gentle roar as it flows through the millions of individual leaves. You sigh as the wind chimes creates its tune, consisting of no certain pattern. Your mind begins to wonder... What will become of these new found feelings between you and Vincent?
Thoughts begin to run. You smile thinking of being with Vincent and getting to know him even more. It feels like the beginning of a new chapter. Gazing out, the wind slows then ceases and so didn't the swaying trees. Then, something catches your focus out of the corner of your eye. All motion ceased but something was moving on its own. On instinct, you look towards it. Your breathe comes to a halt. Fear takes over causing you to freeze like the world around you has.
A tall figure is standing in the shadows of the woods. You suddenly have flash backs of the unidentified man who attacked you the night you met Vincent. Your breathe is quickened as you slowly back up towards your glass sliding door. Reaching behind you, keeping focus on the figure, you try to push it open. Your heart sinks you realize that the sliding glass door is locked. The figure begins to approach. Correspondingly, you dash for the side of the porch without hesitation. The figure has stopped along the edge of the shadow created by the surrounding trees. All you can make out is his attire, dark and concealing. This has to be the same man! What does he want with you?
You slip over the bannister stumbling. Given that this man is obviously not afraid to attack, you run. You quickly whisk around the corner of your house and go in the front door, locking it behind you. Even though you are tracking in dirt, you quickly begin locking your doors and windows. You grab your phone and immediately call Kaydence.
The phone rings and continues two ring without a pick up. You call once more but it's followed by the same result. Your heart continues to race as you dash for the note that Vincent gave you with his phone number on it. You quickly dial and the phone begins to ring. You wait patiently and right before you lose hope there is a pick up.
"Y/n, how are you?", his voice comes through.
"V-Vincent! I need help! He's found me again!", you respond with exasperation.
"Who?"
"Vincent... I'm leaving. I can't stay here!",you respond almost in tears.
"Don't tell me that the attacker has found where you live!", Vincent exclaims. All that he hears in response is your quiet sobbing, "Y/n, you can't stay there. Call the police and come here to my house!"
You slowly creep towards the window and peak out. What you see sends you into panic. The figure is slowly approaching the back porch.
"Vincent, I'll get b-back to you", you say shakily as you hang up, still in tears.
You run faster then you've ever ran in your life and you grab your keys. Swinging open the door, you exit and lock it behind you. Without further hesitation you swiftly begin after your car. As you run you feel your foot slip out from underneath you. Before you know it you land on the cold ground, lightly skinning your palms in the process. This is not good! You quickly look behind you to scan the area as you get up, adrenaline is pumping like mad. You continue your pursuit by getting into your car and turning it on. Furthermore, you pull out of your drive way and dial 911. While driving, you gaze into your rear view window at your house one final time to see that the figure was no where to be seen. At last, 911 answers.
"911, what is your emergency? Keep in mind that this is a recorded call."
"Hello! I'm y/n l/n, the victim of the shooting that happened near the local pizzeria! The man who attacked me has found where I live!", you inform.
"Please give us your exact location, ma'am."
Looking out on the road, still in panic, you respond to the operator's question by informing that you are on the road getting away from your house. In addition to that, you give them the address to your house, the place the attacker is.
"Alright, we are sending help right away. Ma'am, you've taken a big risk by going outside where this suspect was. Don't return to your home until further notice. Do you have a place to go?"
"Yes, I'm going to it right now. Thank you", you respond.
"Alright, we will investigate the scene."
The call ends after brief goodbyes. After getting out of sight of your house, you sigh. Just when you thought this incident had blown over he appears again without apparent intentions.
You turn into a street as the call ends. Soon your gaze is brought upon Vincent's house. A feeling of relief flows through you as you pull in knowing you will get to be with him. You sit there for a brief moment before getting out, processing all that has happened even though it seemed like a blur. Collecting yourself, you turn off your car and step out.
Looking around, there isn't a lot of activity on this block. A few people were out tending their gardens and a few children were at play. All the houses looked lively. Then your gaze is brought upon Vincent's house. In contrast, there wasn't much light coming from the windows but a dim one. Was he home?
Before you take another breathe you hear sirens heading down the road. You think yourself on how you hope they catch whomever this strange man is. It's still very confusing to you as to why he's doing this. As you stood there for another brief moment, the wind began to blow again as if it was taken off pause.
Vincent's door opens and you immediately look up at him. The first thought that comes to your mind is how he looks so worried. Furthermore, a relieved smile replaces it.
"Y/n! I was so worried about you!", he exclaims as he pulls you into a hug. The tightness of his arms around you makes you smile.
He soon pulls back and steps out of the way to let you in. You follow him in smiling. The living room is dark with only the subtle glow of the fire place. His furniture still is in place as it was the last time you were here. In the other room you hear the faint sound of a classical track playing. Vincent flips on a lamp and sit down. You decide to sit next to him facing the window. You are still a bit paranoid from the previous events, but who could blame you?
Suddenly, you feel a hand gently resting on your arm. You look over to see the worried face of Vincent.
"Y/n, what exactly happened? Did he hurt you in any way?", he says concerned.
"He never got that close", you respond softly.
"Good. I heard the sirens. I hope they catch this lunatic", he responds,"but what did he do when he was there?"
Your gaze is brought upon Vincent's face. You sigh thinking about this all and begin to explain what had happened. Vincent sat there listening closely as you spoke. You could tell he was getting the chills by your description of the dark concealing man.
"I'm glad you're safe though," Vincent pauses then looks at you,"You should stay here under the radar until something is done about this guy. He knows where you live now and returning home can be risky. I don't want anything to happen to you again."
Staying here a few days with him? I mean he isn't wrong. You don't want to come across him again. Hesitantly, you agree. Vincent grins a bit then gets up.
"May I show you around then? I never got the chance last time", he reaches out a hand.
"Aha, sure!", you take his hand and he pulls you up.
Vincent's house is amazing. As each room is shown you are amazed on how neat and clean everything is. The kitchen and bathroom were fairly large and super clean. His office area is nice and tidy. And finally, after all those three rooms were shown he leads you to the final room.
"This is my bedroom. It's a little messy but...",he lets you see for yourself and opens the door and flicks on the light.
Looking around you see a few pairs of shoes on the floor and a few purple ties hanging on his closet door. His queen sized bed is made with a few pillows out of place. Regardless of these few misplaced things, it was a beautiful room.
"Wow, amazing!", you tell him.
"Thanks. Oh I almost forgot. There isn't a guest's room and I highly doubt you want to sleep on that couch out there. I promise I don't bite", he laughs a bit.
You immediately blush and look at his bed, "Vincent, I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable or anything."
"Uncomfortable? You don't have to worry about that! I don't mind", he smiles but then suddenly looks like he forgot something, "another thing I forgot to mention. There is food if your hungry."
"Food sounds good", you look up at him and smile.
"Good! Let's go eat."
You walk with him and begin to blush at the thought of sleeping with Vincent but you excuse that for now.
Sitting down, you watch Vincent pull out food from the fridge and a tall bottle of red wine.
"Let's try not to worry about that man and let's relax tonight, shall we?", Vincent asks grinning.
Smiling back, you agree to his proposal. Despite having to leave your home, you feel happy you get to spend more time with him. He sits down with two wine glasses, placing one in front of you. Looking at him, he looks at you and your eyes meet. He pours wine and you both tap your glasses together. Vincent's gaze meet with yours again and the loving look in his eye makes you blush. He truly cares about you and wants to protect you. Gazing out of the window past him at the darkening sky, you see a shooting star. You reminisce the shooting star you saw at the lake."I think I've found him.", you think to yourself.
Vincent then says to you softly...
"Y/n, I won't let him hurt you again", he says softly placing his hand on yours, "don't worry."
-TO BE CONTINUED-
