Adrian laid on his bed staring up at the celling. The last half hour he spent numbly packing his belongings trying to understand how his life took this drastic turn. Thinking back on every time he has been he could understand what his mother said about how he’s never changed. The only change it made was that his plans had become more flawless with each punishment as he learned new ways to avoid getting caught. Now as he laid there he began to regret his decisions and now he has to live with Uncle Chris.

When he was little Adrian always looked up to his Uncle Chris; he was more of an idol to him than his own father. Uncle Chris had fought in the army for a few years until he got into an accident that took his arm. He was allowed to stay in the army but he couldn’t be a part of the fighting force so now he works at a military academy. Adrian still respect his uncle but as he grew he learned to hate how strict he is when it comes to following rules; it made them obtain a love-hate relationship. He could completely understand his mother’s reasoning of sending him to Uncle Chris: if she can change him

Uncle Chris sure can. With that in mind Adrian slowly fell asleep mentally kicking himself.

When he work up it was well past nine in the morning. Adrian didn’t want to risk going downstairs and finding his mother, he didn’t want to see her disappointed face, so instead he passed time continuing packing he belongings. After a half hour he went to the bathroom to shower and brush his teeth knowing that by the time he was finished his mom would’ve already left for work. So by the time Adrian slowly crept down the stairs the house was deserted.

He made his way to the kitchen to make himself a bowl of cereal then he went into the living room and plopped on the couch. Balancing his bowl on his leg and clicked on the TV and turned to TNT which was having a CSI marathon showing. Once he finished his breakfast Adrian couldn’t stand his solitary; in just two days he’ll be on the other side of the country away from everything he knows. So he decided to go out and begin spreading the news. He clicked off the TV, rinsed his bowl off in the sink then ran upstairs to change. Adrian decided to tell Kyle first; he deserved to know since he dragged into trouble too. Besides he’s his best friend, no matter how badly his parents punished him they’ll still at least let Adrian say good-bye.

Grabbing his keys off the counter he set off towards the Wilson house. But he never made it past the corner of his own street before he got distracted. Emily Sanders, the girl Adrian’s had a crush on ever since middle school was walking down the direction. Even if he had the courage to talk to her at the very least he could never ask her out over fear of being turned down. Thinking about it Adrian decided he might as well say hi since he won’t ever see her again; maybe it’ll even rub off for when his with his uncle giving him more courage to talk to girls that him seriously liked.

“Hey, Emily,” Adrian said nervously.

“Hi, Adrian right?” Emily asked.

“Yeah,” Adrian replied, relieved to know that she know his name.

“Do you live close; I’ve never seen you around here?”

“Yeah but I’m usually inside or somewhere else with friends on the weekends.” He told her.

“That sounds fun, maybe my friends and I can come with you guys next time; we’re always trying to find new things to do,” she suggested.

“Sorry but I’m moving Monday.”

“I don't mean to intrude but why?”

“I screwed up big time and my mother thinks my uncle can do a better job of trying to get me to see sense.” Adrian was surprised by how easily he was talking with Emily.

“That’s terrible! Too bad we never talked before; you seem like a great person. I saw you performance yesterday; it was amazing.”

“Really?”
