Chapter 16 - "The truth"

It's a nice sunny day. Eren and Levi go to work as always. In work, they are police partners, and outside work they are boyfriends. Both they're happy. 

Everyone in the police department are busy, and Eren too.

 Eren walks around with papers in his hand. Erwin notices Eren and walks up to him. "Can I help you, Eren?" he asks with his kind smile. Eren looks up at Erwin blinking. "Yesterday Petra gave me these papers about the criminals we're seeking. She said I need to give these to Lev- eh captain today, but I can't find him anywhere." Eren explains looking around. Erwin nods with a serious expression. "The captain is on a mission with Hanji. Pass me the papers, I'll take it to his office." he said showing his hand. Eren smiles and passes the papers to Erwin. "Thank you!" Erwin grabs the papers and walks away to Levi's office. Eren watches his back and tries peeking inside Levi's office when Erwin opens it and then closes again. "I wonder how Levi's office looks... no, no, this is not the time to think about that! I have to work harder!" he thought with a confident smile. Suddenly the phone rings. Eren freaks out by the loud sound and quickly picks it up. "H-hello with the police?" he answers nervously. It was his first time picking up the police's phone. Only thing Eren hears is the sound of grinning. "Heh so it was true." a voice suddenly speaks. Eren's eyes widen. "Who... who is this?" he asks shocked.

"Already forgot my voice, Eren?" the caller speaks again with an amusing voice. A drop of sweat slips on Eren's skin.

"Jean?" Eren said with his voice trembling. Jean smirks, "I see you're already working as a police, huh? That's good. Weren't you the one who asked me to be your partner? Aren't ya such a liar, Eren?" Jean whispers with a deep tone. Eren looks back to see if no one was looking. "Well that doesn't matter now," Jean continues talking. 

Eren reacts confusedly.

"Listen here, Eren. Do you recognise this voice?" Jean asks grinning. Eren hears a girly voice, but she wasn't talking. It was more like her mouth was covered.

"Petra?!" Eren shouts then covers his mouth because he didn't want anyone to hear him.

"Let her go, Jean!" Eren shouts, but not so loud.

Jean smirks, "We'll see about that. First, i want you to meet me, now. I kidnapped her just ten minutes ago, so we're one street further. Just do what I say if you want this chick alive."

Eren looked very angry. "I'm coming." and breaks the line. He grabs his coat and puts it on. Erwin leaves Levi's office and notices Eren who is in hurry. "Eren, where are you going?" he asks worriedly. Eren shocked and then gives a fake smile. "I'll be back, i just need to do something!" with that, he leaves. Erwin blinks.

Eren runs a street further. When he looks around, he sees Jean and Petra with a bandage around her mouth. Eren walks up with an angry face. "Let her go, Jean!"

Jean stands up. "You've really changed, Eren."

Eren's face becomes more angry. "I came as you said, now let her go!" he shouts.

Jean stands up walking around Eren. "First, let me tell you a funny story, Eren." he smirks. Eren reacts confusedly. "What do you mean?"

"Your dad is murdered, right? Do you know who?" he asks grinning. Eren distracted, "What has that to do with this?!" he shouts.

"Just answer." Jean directly replies.

"The criminals, who else?!" Eren answers shouting.

"Biieep!" Jean makes a loud sound and sighs. "Looks like you don't know anything."

Eren follows Jean who's still walking around him. "What? What do I not know?!"

"It's funny how you don't know how suspicious that Levi dude is." Jean smirks. Eren looks more confused. "What has Levi to do with this?"

"Everything." Jean replies confidently. "The ones who killed your daddy weren't the criminals, but them. The people you are now working with. But the one who really killed him, was, your beloved Levi."

Eren's eyes slowly widen of shock.

"You're probably wondering how I know all this? I investigated it all and let that bitch spit out everything. I did it all for you, Eren." Jean stops walking, facing Eren.

Eren doesn't say anything. His body doesn't move. Petra mumbles loudly to Eren as a sign of "Don't listen to him!"

"You-you're joking, right? It's seriously not funny, Jean!" Eren laughs lamely, still with shocking eyes. Jean walks up to Petra and pushes her to Eren.

"Now that you know the truth, I give this chick back." with that, Jean sits on his bike.

"By the way, if you don't need her, you can always give her to me." he said smirking and drives away.

Petra quickly looses her mouth and grabs Eren's arm. "Eren, listen to me...!" she shouts.

Eren harshly pushes her arm away with deadly, angry eyes.

"Don't. touch. me." he says with a deep tone in his voice. Petra walks back with a scared expression.

With that, Eren walks away.
