"Willow?" He sounded both confused and surprised as he stepped into the room. "What are you doing here?"
I gulped, "I was babysitting your sister..." My words drifted off and I gave an awkward jazz hands gesture presenting Sydney.
Sydney and Ava stared at us confusedly but Avery watched us with intrigue, when the silence became awkward she then rounded up the girls saying, "How about we make some cookies?" They instantly ran out cheering and Avery closed the door behind them.
"So... How did things go at the precinct?" I said as I sat back down on the sofa pressing my knees to my chest. He traipsed across to my side of the room and sat on the other side.
"Fine... I guess, Analina is doing the best that she can." He said curling his lip as the air filled with silence. The silence soon got awkward, it was only a matter of time before we both blurted out, "Look I'm really sorry-"
"You go first." We both blurted out again at the same time again. "Ladies first." He trailed off, I scoffed and bit my lip.
Pulling the sleeves on my jumper out to cover my hands I started, "I'm really sorry for screaming at you." I paused, "And hitting your chest..." He looked at me for a while, not saying anything, then raised an eyebrow pointing at his right cheek; I tutted and mumbled, "And for slapping you... Even though you did deserve it."
He smirked, "You can really pack a punch." He fake winced touching his cheek.
I smiled putting my index finger up - so my hand looked like a gun - and blew, "I learned from the best."
"Your parents?"
"No. Ava." I smiled and we both burst out laughing. When we stopped the room filled with silence once again. Yet not the awkward kind, this silence was bearable and much needed after the three days of drama we had, had.
"I'm really sorry Willow..." He said as he looked up from his lap, I watched him and smiled sardonically. I didn't say anything though, until I knew he was finished; "I'm sorry for getting angry at you, it wasn't your fault. I pushed you into the date... I'm sorry for making you tag along with me," He paused, "I'm so sorry that you got arrested because of me and I'm so, so sorry that I ran." He furrowed his brows in frustration at his own actions, "That was probably the shittiest thing a person could do, I don't even know why I did run, a-and I wouldn't even care if you hated me because of I-" I put both my palms on his face and smushed it so he would stop rambling.
"It's okay." I smiled weakly at him, "I'm over it."
"Are you sure?" He asked.
I placed my index and middle finger on my heart and smiled broadly, "Scouts honour."
His smile widened and he shook his head, "Don't ever do that again."
"Why?" I smiled.
"You looked really stupid." He chuckled and I gasped hitting his arm.
"How rude."
"You really did though, with your china buns and everything."
"Leave my China buns alone."
"You looked like a rabbit." We argued on top of each other. For a minute it was as if the whole incident had not happened and everything was back to normal.
