The next morning, my alarm clock started ringing. I groaned and rolled over. The alarm clock read 6:00am.

I trudged out of bed and pulled on my cream jophers, my brand new polished black riding boots and my light blue polo shirt. Then I put my hair in a pony tail.

After a quick breakfast of cereal, I grabbed my bike and started pedalling. As soon as I reached the barn, my phone dinged.

Hey. How is the lesson?

It hasn't started yet. Just got here. I'll text you a picture of the horse I get assigned to later.

I shoved my phone in my pocket and walked to the barn.

"Hello! Who are you?" "I'm Chastity." "Oh I'm Julie. I think I remember you being in my class. Follow me."

She gestured with her hand to follow. I followed. We soon arrived at a smallish ring. Julie walked to the center, well me, two girls and a guy listened.

"Hello. My name is Julie. Today we will assign you a horse based on past or current knowledge. First I will show you the horses, then we will get started."

The first horse was called Blade. She was a beautiful dapple gray Thoroughbred with a spunky personality. I didn't think I would be able to control her if I got her.

The next one was called Snowflake. She was also a Thoroughbred, but she was cream coloured with blue eyes. She had a very calm personality.

We went through about 10 more horses before we came to my most favourite horse. Eclipse. As soon as I saw her I knew I wanted her.

She was a pure black Mustang. She was very calm, but she held her head high. I loved her. We started to walk away, but then I spotted a huge stall.

"Hey, what about that horse?" I pointed over to the stall. "Oh. Right." She seemed angry or something.

"And this is Chance Of A Lifetime. Or Chance. She's a red roan Arabian. She's had an awful past and trusts no one. But maybe we will assign her to someone." Then she walked away.

The rest of the group followed. Accept me. I stood at the stall door, watching her. She snorted and pinned her ears back, but I still stood there. Finally, she pricked them up and curiously walked over.

She walked slowly, but she still came. I held my hand out, waiting for her to fill the gap. She stuck her muzzle into my palm and I stroked her. Then I heard a voice a couple stalls down.

"She'll never trust you. She doesn't trust anyone, so it's useless to try." I turned around and faced the girl. She had red hair, freckles and green eyes. And a smug look on her face.

She turned on her heel and walked off. I rolled my eyes and walked off to find the group. I found them with Julie. Everyone was getting their horse.

"So Duke you get Snowflake. And Kate you have Blade. So Winnie you get Apple." I looked at Apple.

She was a red roan quarter horse. She had style in her step.

"And Chastity you have...Eclipse." I smiled happily. But something deep down told me I should've gotten some other horse...

I walked to Eclipse's stable and clipped her darkish purple halter on. The other people didn't know how to do anything, or put anything on except for Brianna, a girl who had arrived late. She got assigned Dagger, a feisty little Chestnut gelding.

Brianna smiled at me. I smiled back and grabbed Eclipse's dark purple lead rope. I carefully opened the stall door and led her out.

Her hooves clicked against the concrete floor as I led her to the cross ties. I brushed her down and she nuzzled my hand.

I went to the tack room and grabbed the dark purple saddle pad. After making sure it was on her back correctly, I grabbed her polished black saddle and set it on her. After making sure the girth was in place and tightened, I headed back to the tack room.

I grabbed her black bridle and carefully put the bit in her mouth after buckling everything correctly. I grabbed her reins and start leading her towards a big arena. Julie hurried over.

"It looks like you really know your stuff. Brianna is heading over too, because it seems you too are the only ones who know how to tack up horses." I continued to lead Eclipse over to the ring. After mounting, I started her at a walk and walked her in a couple circles.

Then I tapped my heels to her sides and she started on a nice trot. I started posting. Ashley had told me what it was and I wanted to try it.

It was actually pretty calm and laid back. Soon I headed her towards the one jump that Julie had set up in the ring. Julie watched me.

"Lean forward!" She yelled. I leaned forward and Eclipse pricked her ears up. She flew over the small jump perfectly, and landed softly on the ground.

"Good job!" I watched Brianna jump Dagger. Not that I knew what I was talking about very much, but it didn't look like she was leaning far enough forwards. Dagger barely made it over the jump. But he still did.

"Lean forward more next time." After Julie taught the others how to mount and ride, we headed back to the barn, were I untacked Eclipse and gave her an apple.

I walked outside and grabbed the other apple I had. I walked to Chance's stall. She nickered quietly when she saw me.

I held my hand out and she carefully ate the apple out of my palm. I walked back to my bike and started to pedal home.
