Pic of Chance when she first gets out^
Also that's how high the fence is.---------------------------------------------
Although I liked Chance, I would not be happy to be assigned to her.
As soon as someone was able to attach a lead rope to her halter and get her out of the stall, she would buck and throw her head.
She kind of liked me, but still. I watched as Piper, one of the really nice advanced riders, was trying to hook Chances lead rope onto her halter.
But she was having none of that. She tossed her head and stamped her hooves, getting more and more agitated.
Finally, she had had enough. She reared, and Piper tripped over something.
Chance took this as a sign to escape and galloped out. I grabbed the lead rope Piper had dropped and hurried towards the door.
Chance was even more magnificent out in the sunlight. She had her tail held up high, and she looked around the small yard.
She was standing in one of the outdoor arenas that was connected to the back of the barn. She snorted as other people hurried towards her with lead ropes.
But she was having none of that today. She galloped straight for the fence ahead. It was pretty high, and she didn't look like the jumping type.
Everyone stopped what they doing, including Julie, and looked at her. Her hooves pounding on the sand was the only sound. Even the horses stopped what they were doing.
She leaped was so much power, I thought she would hit the fence. But she jumped over it, and landed softly on the other side. She had looked amazing in mid-air.
But now she reared. People just stood there with their mouths open. They were amazed that she had even made it.
But I walked over to the fence and sat on the top rail. She snorted and shook her head. "It's ok girl. Your ok." I cooed. She bobbed her head and took a small step towards me.
She snorted and bobbed her head again. Then she slowly approached the fence. I waited till she was close enough for me to jump on and then made my move.
Since she had no halter on, I had to put the lead rope in a circle. Then I slowly rubbed her neck, going in big circles.
Finally I slipped it over her head. She snorted and put her head down, following me.
I led her towards her stall. She entered peacefully, then snorted and stamped her hoove. I reached into my pocket and grabbed a mint.
She lipped it up gratefully and nuzzled my shoulder. I patted her muscular shoulder and stepped out of her stall.
"I've never seen her do anything like that before. Not even to her old owners." I jumped like 5 feet and Julie laughed. "Sorry if I scared you."
"Yeah, you did!" I said. She just laughed again. I smiled but rolled my eyes.
"What old owners?" I asked. "That's a story for another time. Right now, everyone needs to head home." I looked outside and spotted the awful rain.
Grabbing my bike, I pedalled through the pouring rain. By the time I got home, I was soaked and completely covered in mud.
As soon as my mom saw me, she gasped. "Up to the shower. Now." I groaned and stomped up the stairs. After turning the shower to hot, I jumped in. Tomorrow was going to be special, Julie said, because I was going to be getting something.
