Moving Away

I look out of the window of the silver pickup truck, watching the fields and places I had known forever pass. This would be the last time I would see them. For now.

We pulled up to the stable and my parents got out.

This wasn't the stable I rode at though. This was a different stable. My parents had picked me out a horse here. Two actually. Although I didn't know why we weren't getting 3.

As soon as we walked inside a very pretty, very slim blonde ran over to meet us.

"Hi! I'm Raven. Lily, my instructor, told me that a family was coming to adopt two of our horses. So follow me!"

We followed down stall after stall. Finally we stopped in front of a stall. Inside was a huge, muscular black gelding.

"This is Evergreen. His registered name is Green Winter. He's part Quarter Horse, part Draft Horse. As you can see, he's huge and built for riding, as well as pulling carts and working."

My dad stepped forward and patted him on the nose. Raven handed him a neon green halter and a red lead rope.

My dad put the stuff on and led him out to our brand new silver and black trailer.

Then we walked about 10 stalls down and came in front of a stall. Inside was a cremello Thoroughbred with blue eyes.

"And this is Joy. Her registered name is Joyful Noise."

Even though I knew (or thought I knew) she was mine, my mom said she wanted to lead Joy into the trailer.

I nodded and after we loaded them in, we drove off. It was then I realized we were heading towards my stable.

"Chastity! Hi!" Julia greeted me. "How come were here?" "We thought you'd wanna say goodbye to Chance. Plus we have a surprise for you."

I followed Julia over to Chance's stall. Chance neighed when she saw me. I pressed my forehead against her's. "Goodbye pretty girl." I whispered. I swear I saw a tear go down her face.

Julie came over to me and put her hand on my shoulder. "We'll send the surprise to you, Chastity."

I nodded and followed my parents to the truck.

A couple hours later, we arrived at our new house. I went upstairs and picked the second biggest room. It had a bathroom, with a jacuzzi bath tub. There was a huge bed. It was one of those ones with the huge poles and the curtains hanging down. The closet was nice sized too.

After I put my bags down, I headed towards the barn. It was huge, with at least 15 stalls. There were about 6 pastures around the barn and by themselves, and I knew there was more father out.

I went to the trailer and took out Joy. I led her to a stall and filled up her water bucket, as well as her hay rack.

Then I grabbed Evergreen and put him in the stall next to Joy's. They were obviously in love, by the way that they rubbed their heads together and other things they did. Maybe there would be a foal.

I went inside and found my mom in her and dads room. It was a lot like my room, accept the bed didn't have the curtains. And theirs didn't have a window seat.

My room also looked out over the barn and the pastures. I headed back out in my riding clothes and grabbed Evergreen. After brushing him till he glistened, I put him in the huge pasture.

It was farther away, but he could still see the barn. I brushed Joy till she glistened too, then grabbed her tack and tacked her up.

I mounted and walked her past the pasture Evergreen was in. He snorted and went back to grazing.

We soon arrived at a really big field. I pressed lightly with my heels and she bursted into a gallop.

We arrived at some woods with a small river running through, and Joy took a drink before we cantered back to the stable. I untacked her and brushed her again, then put her in the pasture with Evergreen.

Later that night I grabbed Joy's sky blue stable blanket and put it on her, then put her back into a different field. It was smaller, with a big shed in the corner. I put hay and water into the hay racks and buckets.

I grabbed Evergreen's darkish purple stable blanket and then after making sure it was on correctly, I put him with Joy.

The first night on my brand new bed was amazing. The bed was so comfortable.

The next morning, as I was heading out towards the stable, I saw a flash of black, white and orange. I looked under a small bush and saw a small kitten under there.

She was shivering and mewing. I carefully reached under the bush and pulled her out. She purred as I ran my fingers over her head.

I brought her inside, gave her a quick bath and then showed my parents. My mom said she would pick up a litter box, litter, a collar, a leash and food. I reminded her to pick up bowels too.

I left the kitten sleeping on my bed and headed out to do chores.

How was that? I decided to add the kitten. Poor cat, right?
