Suprise

I grabbed a piece of toast from the toaster and smeared my moms homemade mango raspberry jam onto the toast.

After eating it, I grabbed my riding boots and headed out to find my bike.

My bike was in the shed that morning, which was a little unusual because it was usually leaning against the house.

I just shrugged and grabbed it. After making sure my helmet was securely on, I pedalled towards the barn.

When I arrived there, Eclipse was saddled up and already being ridden by a girl named Ellie.

I must of looked at her weirdly because she jumped off of Eclipse and led her over to me.

"Julie is over there waiting for you. She said something about you getting assigned a new horse." I shrugged, patted Eclipse's soft, velvety nose and headed in the direction Ellie had pointed to.

Julie was trying to put Chance's hot pink halter on when I went over there.

But Chance refused and instead just stood there and threw her head up.

"Come one Chance! Please pretty girl, just for once let me put it on." She pricked her ears up but still threw her head up, seeming to be smirking in the process.

"Hey Julie." "Hey. You think you could lend me a hand? Chance is being very difficult today." "Ok, but why? No one ever rides her." "Just because we have an announcement to make about her."

I grabbed the hot pink halter from Julie's hand and clicked my tongue to her. She pricked her ears up and sighed, dipping her head down. I slipped the halter over her muzzle and carefully slipped it over her ears.

She snorted and seemed pretty happy as I clipped the hot pink lead rope onto her halter. Her hooves clicked against the concrete floor as I took her out of her stall.

I handed the lead rope to Julie and headed towards the outdoor ring. Everyone in my group was there, and I was very confused as Julie headed towards the center with Chance.

"Ok everyone, listen up. We all know what happened yesterday with Chance, what she did and who took her back to her stall." Everyone in the group started whispering.

"Ok, that's enough. So, we have decided to assign Eclipse to Ellie, and Chance will be assigned to Chastity." I felt my face turn red as the whole group gasped.

"I know it seems hard to believe that were assigning Chance after 2 years, but Chastity showed bravery and courage as she went out to get this little devil of a mare."

Most people nodded, but the girl with the red hair, green eyes and freckles shook her head and glared at me. I glared right back.

Julie seemed to notice the other girl. "Jessica, we will be having none of that." She said it simply and then went back to everyone else.

After explaining what was going to happen at the lesson, Julie handed me Chance's lead rope.

I saddled Chance up and slowly mounted. She snorted and responded peacefully as I tapped my heels to her sides.

I let her trot and walk, but I didn't want to canter or gallop until I knew she wouldn't buck or kick me off.

Later that day, as I was watching television, a commercial came on about shelters and dogs. I knew what I wanted to do when I was older. I wanted to open a vets office/dog shelter, but there would be cats aloud too.

I was 13, so who said I wouldn't be able to live my dream later on?
