"Is she alive?"
"Yes sir, she should be. The machine was ordered to bring her alive but to use force if she resisted."
"Is that the reason why she has a bruise on her head?"
"Yes sir."
When I opened my eyes, the world was enveloped in green. Shocked, I began to flail around and my arm slapped something solid and a tug on my arm as I reached up.
What the...?
I felt the blood drain from my face as I looked around. There was clear glass surrounding me, but everything was a shade of green, including my hands.
I trailed my eyes to my arms and saw an IV-like tube connected to the crook in my arm. Immediately, I stilled. I do not like needles.
Not at all.
The tube is filled with some blue looking liquid but it's hard to tell because of the strange green tint on everything. The tube leads from my arm to the bottom of whatever structure I'm in. Then I notice.
My feet aren't touching the ground and when I moved my arms, it felt like I was swimming in really thick syrup.
My hair was all twisted around my head and as I turned to look around I saw little green bubbles caught in my hair. Well, I'm floating in green goo, that is the expanse of my knowledge right now.
I blow out a breath and then realize that I'm wearing an oxygen mask. My eyes widen and I quickly look down to see if I'm covered.
Thank god.
I'm wearing a hospital gown that's also moving like it's in syrup. The white dots on the baby blue backdrop made me think of the sky and I smiled, or tried to.
The edges of my mouth hurt, like I had been smiling for too long. I slowly brought up a hand to feel the corners of my mouth and felt something like twine.
My eyes widen and I strain in the lighting to see my reflection in the cool, thick glass. I see nothing and shrink away from the glass wall, arms hugging my sides.
I looked to my right and saw a young girl in another tube similar to mine, her mouth open in a cry of anguish. From where I was, I could see her face perfectly. She looked to be about my age but when she stopped screaming to sob silently her face held the look if someone who had been here a long time. Even from the green liquid I was in I could tell she had brown hair but I couldn't tell what color her eyes were.
Her face was impassive as she ceased her crying and her head just hung there limply. She must've sensed my gaze because she looked up and turned her head in my direction. Our eyes locked and she smiled slightly, and fluttered her hand in a small wave. I returned the gesture and pointed towards my mouth as a question of what was there. Her eyes widened and looked sympathetic as she made a small sewing needle gesture and then dragged her thumb and index finger nail over her lips in a zipped motion. I dragged my head away from her and stared numbly at the ground, mind completely blank except for that small motion.
A sudden motion in her tube made me look over to her, eyes wide in terror. She was jerking like she was being electrocuted and I saw a small, balding man at the base of her tube pushing a button, a sadistic smile on his face like her enjoyed seeing her in pain. Rage swam in my veins and I did what I did without even thinking.
I jolted my arms up over my head, ripping out the IV tube in my arm. The blue liquid swam around the tube, swirling. My anger took over as I pounded my fists on the glass, yelling in pure fury at the man into the breathing mask. My mouth strains from an unknown pain. By this time, the blue liquid which was in my IV has completely encased the green goo, shielding the evil little man from my rage.
